St Joseph's School, Hawthorn is seeking a Learning Diversity Leader (0.8 FTE) for 2027 to develop and implement a whole-school approach promoting the wellbeing, inclusion, and personalised support of all students.
<p><strong>LEARNING DIVERSITY LEADER 2027 (0.8)</strong></p>
<p><strong>ROLE PURPOSE</strong></p>
<p>The role of Learning Diversity Leader at St Joseph's School involves close liaison with and support of the Principal, Leadership Team and staff to develop and implement a whole-school approach that:</p>
<ul>
<li>promotes the wellbeing and inclusion of all students</li>
<li>focuses on prevention, early identification and intervention to support students</li>
<li>provides personalised learning and targeted support to meet individual student needs.</li>
</ul>
<p>The Learning Diversity Leader works collaboratively with staff, students, families and external agencies to maximise learning opportunities and support the educational, wellbeing, social and emotional needs of all students.</p>
<p>The person in this role has excellent personal, interpersonal and communication skills.</p>
<p>The person in this role demonstrates an understanding of MACS, State and Federal Government policies, initiatives and legislation, and their impact on school processes, practices and vision.</p>

<p><strong>AS A RELIGIOUS EDUCATION LEADER</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Encourage and support the growth of the Catholic culture, faith and traditions of St Joseph's School and maintain a positive partnership between School and Parish.</li>
<li>Promote positive relationships with students, staff and parents, reflecting Gospel values.</li>
<li>Promote, through word and example, the beliefs and values articulated in the school's Vision.</li>
<li>Recognise the importance of education in learning and teaching in the development of the whole person.</li>
<li>Promote inclusion and equity for all students and respect the dignity of every individual.</li>
<li>Support and respond with empathy to the needs of students, colleagues and parents.</li>

<p><strong>AS AN EDUCATIONAL LEADER</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Support the implementation of the School's Vision and Principal's Vision.</li>
<li>Promote positive student behaviour through a consistent, whole-school approach that reflects positive behaviour practices and a growth mindset.</li>
<li>Develop, implement and review policies, processes and organisational structures that promote inclusion and support the needs of all students.</li>
<li>Lead and manage the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD), including the identification of student needs, adjustments, programs and required documentation.</li>
<li>Support teachers to understand and meet NCCD requirements, including the collection and maintenance of appropriate evidence and documentation.</li>
<li>Maintain an overview of current developments, issues and trends relating to Learning Diversity and Student Support.</li>
<li>Attend relevant professional learning, courses and regional network opportunities to maintain current knowledge and practice in Learning Diversity and Student Support.</li>
<li>Communicate and disseminate relevant information to teachers and parents regarding student needs, adjustments and support.</li>
<li>Attend relevant zone and network meetings.</li>
<li>Be an effective and supportive member of the School Improvement Team.</li>
<li>Identify and coordinate professional learning opportunities relating to Learning Diversity and Student Support.</li>
<li>Support the induction of new teachers and Learning Support Staff in matters relating to Learning Diversity and Student Support.</li>
<li>committed to the protection of children and young people in line with the Victorian Government Child Safety reforms and MACS Child Safety requirements.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>AS A COMMUNITY LEADER</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Promote and strengthen partnerships between the school, students, families and the broader community.</li>
<li>Develop and maintain partnerships with government and non-government agencies that support student learning, wellbeing and inclusion.</li>
<li>Explore and participate in MACS initiatives and projects related to Learning Diversity and Student Support.</li>
<li>Work collaboratively with individual students, groups and whole classes to support student learning, wellbeing and inclusion.</li>
<li>Liaise collaboratively with teachers, parents, students and external agencies regarding Student Support.</li>
<li>Contribute to and promote a positive, collaborative and supportive staff culture.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>AS AN ORGANISATIONAL LEADER </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Coordinate and manage the student referral process, including school-based and MACS referrals.</li>
<li>Coordinate and collate annual NCCD submissions and ensure required documentation is accurate and maintained.</li>
<li>Facilitate regular meetings for Learning Support Staff.</li>
<li>Develop and coordinate the Learning Support Staff timetable, including classroom support and yard duties.</li>
<li>Manage the Learning Diversity budget and ensure resources are used effectively to support student needs.</li>
<li>Identify, purchase and maintain appropriate Learning Diversity and Student Support resources.</li>
<li>Liaise with the Principal, parents, teachers, Learning Support Staff, MACS personnel and external agencies regarding student needs and support.</li>
<li>Coordinate meetings between parents and MACS specialist staff.</li>
<li>Arrange and attend Program Support Group (PSG) meetings and coordinate the recording and distribution of minutes.</li>
<li>Ensure Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) are communicated with parents and that final copies are signed and retained at the conclusion of each year.</li>
<li>Upload PSG minutes and student PLPs/BSPs to NForma.</li>
<li>Liaise with and support teachers to effectively cater for the individual learning, wellbeing and social and emotional needs of students.</li>
<li>Oversee the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Personalised Learning Plans, Adjustment Sheets and Behaviour Support Plans for students requiring additional support.</li>
<li>Liaise with the school psychologist and relevant professionals regarding student needs.</li>
<li>Liaise with Curriculum Leaders and the Learning and Teaching Leader to identify, monitor and respond to student learning needs.</li>
<li>Ensure appropriate student records, documentation and actions are maintained in accordance with school, MACS and legislative requirements.</li>
<li>Meet regularly with the Principal to provide updates regarding student needs, Learning Diversity initiatives, NCCD, referrals and emerging issues.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>The successful applicant will have the requirements of:</strong></p>

<li>registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching</li>
<li>adherence to the St Joseph's Code of Conduct and Child Safety Policy</li>
