<p><strong>Junior Visual Art Technician</strong></p>
<p>Founded in 1896, Mount Lilydale Mercy College is a Catholic, co-educational secondary College located in Melbourne's outer eastern suburbs. With more than 1,500 students, MLMC is a vibrant, values-driven learning community guided by Gospel values and the Mercy tradition.</p>
<p>We are seeking a practical, organised and creative Junior Visual Art Technician to join our Arts team in a part time capacity, supporting the day-to-day operation of our Visual Arts learning spaces.</p>
<p>This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic secondary school environment, supporting teachers and students across a range of practical Visual Arts activities, while helping maintain safe, well-equipped and engaging learning spaces.</p>
<p><strong>About the Role</strong></p>
<p>Working under the direction of the Faculty Learning Leader – The Arts, you will provide practical and technical support to Visual Arts teachers and students.</p>
<p>You will help ensure classes are well prepared, materials and equipment are available when needed, and Visual Arts spaces are maintained to a high standard.</p>
<p><strong>Key responsibilities will include:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Prepare and set up materials, equipment and tools for practical Visual Arts classes.</li>
<li>Provide basic technical and practical assistance to Visual Arts teachers during scheduled classes.</li>
<li>Maintain clean, safe and orderly Visual Arts teaching and studio spaces.</li>
<li>Monitor stock levels, assist with deliveries and prepare orders for art supplies in accordance with College procedures.</li>
<li>Safely store, maintain and care for Visual Arts materials, equipment and tools.</li>
<li>Assist with mounting, hanging and displaying student artwork across the College.</li>
<li>Support the physical set-up, installation and pack-up of the annual College Art Exhibition and other Arts events.</li>
<li>Undertake routine checks of equipment and tools and report any damage or servicing requirements.</li>
<li>Work collaboratively with the Visual Arts team to ensure the department’s practical and operational needs are met.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>About You</strong></p>
<p>We are looking for someone who is practical, reliable and takes pride in creating well-organised and well-maintained creative spaces.</p>
<p>You will bring:</p>
<ul>
<li>Relevant tertiary qualifications in Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Design or a related field, or practical arts studio experience.</li>
<li>A practical understanding of art materials, equipment and studio environments.</li>
<li>Strong attention to detail, particularly when preparing materials, caring for equipment and managing stock.</li>
<li>The ability to organise daily tasks, prioritise competing demands and work efficiently.</li>
<li>Initiative and the ability to work proactively within established routines and guidelines.</li>
<li>The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.</li>
<li>A commitment to maintaining safe working environments and following College health and safety procedures.</li>
<li>A commitment to child safety and to supporting a positive, inclusive learning environment for young people.</li>
