They have a major influence on developing the quality of holistic education including teaching and learning and nurturing positive relationships between students, teachers and school community members.<br><br> The Director of Learning and Teaching will support teachers and faculty leaders in the development, refinement and sharing of their teaching practice to improve learning outcomes for every student and is highly visible in classrooms working cooperatively with teachers and the College Executive. Key elements of the role will include:</p> <ul> <li>teaching and learning leadership</li> <li>developing and driving the teaching professional learning agenda for excellence in the classroom</li> <li>facilitating the ongoing development of quality contemporary teaching, learning and assessment processes, including the effective use of school data from external assessments and diagnostic testing</li> <li>developing and leading the implementation of a school wide Learning Management System</li> <li>managing academic awards program to celebrate student success</li> <li>managing student reports (via Compass - Student Management System)</li> <li>supporting Newman Selective Gifted Education Program leadership, Diverse Learning and associated testing programs (e.g. PAT, CAT4, etc)</li> <li>managing and monitoring all HSC results and results of other external examinations and strategise improvement agenda for planning and teaching for excellence.</li> </ul> <p>The Director of Learning and Teaching reports to the Principal and is a member of the College Executive.<br><br><strong>Essential Criteria</strong></p> <ul> <li>promotes and models the vision and mission of the Catholic school and the community it serves</li> <li>models continual improvement and strengthens a culture of high expectations centred on the needs of all students</li> <li>collaborates with stakeholders to enhance professional knowledge, practice and engagement through a range of strategies to improve student outcomes</li> <li>applies strategic thinking to develop a culture of improvement, innovation and change</li> <li>ensures the delivery of the curriculum, assessment and reporting is compliant with NESA policies and procedures</li> <li>demonstrates expertise and abilities in the field of teaching and learning, whole school curriculum planning and development</li> <li>recognised as an outstanding classroom teacher who can successfully model innovative learning, teaching and assessment practices</li> <li>a strong focus on attention to detail</li> <li>proven record of excellence in a range of roles within a secondary educational setting including leading a department</li> <li>demonstrated ability to lead contemporary and effective professional learning for staff using a range of data to monitor and assess student learning growth.
