<p><strong>Position Purpose</strong></p> <p>The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the infrastructure and systems required for data storage, processing, and analysis. The Data Engineer builds and manages the data pipelines that enable efficient and reliable data integration, transformation, and delivery for use in Business Intelligence and other enterprise workloads.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Commencement</strong></p> <p>The commencement date for this position is 2 November 2026 (negotiable).&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p> <p>Duties related to the position include but are not limited to the following;</p> <p><strong>Data Pipeline Development &amp; Management</strong></p> <ul> <li>Designs and develops data pipelines that extract data from various sources, transform it into the desired format, and load it into the appropriate data storage systems</li> <li>Integrates data from different sources, including databases, data warehouses, APIs, and external systems.</li> <li>Ensures data consistency and integrity during the integration process, performing data validation and cleaning as needed</li> <li>Transforms raw data into a usable format by applying data cleansing, aggregation, filtering, and enrichment techniques</li> <li>Optimizes data pipelines and data processing workflows for performance, scalability, and efficiency</li> <li>Implements data quality checks and validations within data pipelines to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data</li> </ul> <p><strong>Data Systems Administration</strong></p> <ul> <li>Monitors and tunes data systems, identifies and resolves performance bottlenecks, and implements strategies to enhance performance</li> <li>Administers data storage, pipeline and model related systems</li> </ul> <p><strong>Data Modelling</strong></p> <ul> <li>Designs and develops data models optimised for use in business intelligence or other outputs, capturing the structure, relationships, and constraints of relevant datasets</li> <li>Build and operationalise complex data solutions, correct problems, apply transformations, and perform data cleansing/quality solutions</li> <li>Conduct performance tuning and optimisation of data models for efficient data access and retrieval</li> </ul> <p><strong>Architecture, Planning &amp; Governance</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ensures data systems, processes, insights and outputs are focused on educational and business outcomes</li> <li>Substantively contributes to the architecture of data insights at all stages from source system through to delivered outcomes</li> <li>Substantively contributes to planning related to data systems, processes, insights, outputs and outcomes</li> <li>Incorporate core data management competencies, including data governance, data security and data quality</li> <li>Maintains technical documentation for data pipelines, transformation logic, data modes, and other components</li> </ul> <p><strong>Collaboration</strong></p> <ul> <li>Collaborates with team members, business stakeholders and third-parties to optimise models, algorithms, etc for data quality, security, and governance</li> <li>Effectively collaborate and communicate with various stakeholders to understand data and business requirements and translate them into outputs</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Essential Criteria</strong></p> <ul> <li>4 + years developing and administering data services and pipelines</li> <li>Excellent knowledge of and experience concerning the cyber security implications of data services</li> <li>Highly defined analytical, and problem solving skills, and demonstrated experience with complex incidents</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills including demonstrated ability to: <ul> <li>Build strong and effective relationships with stakeholders and colleagues</li> <li>Prepare documentation and plans, develop procedures, etc</li> <li>Communicate effectively with both technical and non technical stakeholders</li> </ul></li> <li>Excellent organisational skills including attention to detail, highly effective time management and ability to prioritise between multiple projects</li> <li>The ability to work collaboratively as a highly effective team-member as well as work autonomously and take ownership of issues and projects</li> <li>If remote, willingness to travel for key meetings &amp;
