<p><br><strong>Position Purpose</strong></p> <p>The Leader of Student Care is responsible for managing student care processes and communication related to the same across the College.</p> <p>The role provides authoritative and instructional leadership to House Leaders, teachers, support staff and students. It assumes professional capabilities consistent with ‘Highly Accomplished’ and/or ‘Lead’ Australian Professional Standards for Teachers descriptors developed by the Australian Institute of Teachers and School Leadership, although accreditation at this level is not a requirement.&nbsp;</p> <p>The leadership and direction provided by the Leader of Student Care will be consistent with;</p> <ul> <li>The message of Jesus and the Gospels</li> <li>Catholic Church teachings, principles and values</li> <li>Armidale Catholic Schools policies and directives</li> <li>Armidale Catholic Schools Catholic Principles and Values</li> <li>Armidale Catholic Schools Mission and Vision Statement</li> <li>Armidale Catholic Schools Strategic Directions.</li> <li> <p>Armidale Catholic Schools policies and practices including ACS Non-Negotiables of a Catholic Professional Learning Community, ACS Living Well Learning Well Student Support Framework and ACS Leading Well.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p></li> </ul> <p><strong>Position&nbsp;</strong></p> <p>Permanent teaching role plus 2 year Leader of Student Care contract (renewal subject to successful performance).</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Commencement</strong></p> <p>The commencement date for this position will be negotiated with the successful applicant, ideally no later than 28 January 2027.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Essential criteria</strong></p> <ul> <li>Proven experience leading student care,&nbsp;behaviour support, and wellbeing programs across a school.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to use student data (such as attendance,&nbsp;behavioural, and wellbeing records) to identify trends, improve support systems, and make informed decisions that benefit students.&nbsp;</li> <li>The proven ability to remain calm, objective, and composed when managing critical incidents, complex student&nbsp;behaviours, or heightened emotional responses from staff, students, and parents.&nbsp; This includes a track record of managing complex case work and student support frameworks through a lens of deep respect for individual student needs, circumstances, and safety.&nbsp;</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to guide, support, and develop staff—particularly Middle Leaders like House Leaders—in a way that&nbsp;honours their professional dignity. Proven skills in coaching colleagues, building highly collaborative teams, and managing delegation with care and accountability.&nbsp;</li> <li>A track record of building trusting, transparent, and respectful partnerships with parents and carers.
