<p>Wenona is seeking a dedicated and compassionate full time, temporary <strong>School Psychologist</strong> to join our dynamic learning community for a period from the start of Term 4, 2026 to the end of Term 1, 2027. This role is vital in supporting the wellbeing and development of students from Kindergarten – Year 12, using evidence-based strategies and best practices to guide interventions.<br><br> Wenona aims to encourage, challenge, extend and nurture each student in a way that allows her to achieve her full potential. They will be responsible for the delivery of tailored counselling services to students, emphasising early intervention, proactive wellbeing programs, and the creation of individualised support strategies. The School Psychologist collaborates with educators, parents/carers, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students and to strengthen connections between home and school. The School Psychologist will be part of the School Counselling and Psychological Services Team, reporting to the Lead Psychologist and Deputy Principal – Students.<br><br><strong>Key priorities for the role include:</strong><br><br> &nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Assessment and Evaluation</strong></p> <ul> <li>Conduct and interpret psychological and educational/cognitive assessments to identify students' cognitive, emotional, behavioural, and academic strengths and needs.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Prevention and Intervention</strong></p> <ul> <li>Provide short-term individual counselling to students.</li> <li>Design and implement evidence-based early intervention programs for small groups and cohorts.</li> <li>Assist in crisis prevention and intervention, including risk assessments and postvention support.</li> <li>Deliver evidence based parenting interventions.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Consultation and Collaboration</strong></p> <ul> <li>Consult with teachers, administrators, parents/carers, and external providers about learning, behaviour, and mental health concerns.</li> <li>Provide guidance and professional development to Wenona staff.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Program Development and Support</strong></p> <ul> <li>Contribute meaningfully to Wenona’s wellbeing initiatives, sharing expertise in child development.</li> <li>Support school-wide initiatives related to mental health, social-emotional learning, and behaviour.</li> <li>Analyse data to inform decision-making and improve student outcomes.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Child Protection</strong></p> <ul> <li>Adhere to child protection legislation, ensuring student safety and compliance with regulations.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Professional Standards</strong></p> <ul> <li>Engage in regular 1:1 supervision with the Lead Psychologist and peer supervision among the team.</li> <li>Engage in continued professional development and adhering to professional training requirements.</li> <li>Maintain clear, concise, and accurate records.</li> </ul> <p><strong>This is a fixed term position to cover the leave of another staff member for a period from the commencement of Term 4, 2026 to the end of Term 3, 2027.</strong><br><br><strong>About You</strong><br><br> To be successful in this role, you will be an AHPRA Registered Psychologist along with APS eligibility.
