<p><strong>About the role</strong></p>
<p>HillSide Christian College is seeking a full-time Secondary Education Assistant to join our Christian learning community.</p>
<p>This role will primarily involve supporting students in Food Technology (including food preparation) and Art, with additional responsibilities providing individual and small-group support to students, including those with additional learning, behavioural or physical needs.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will work under the direction of the classroom teacher to support the educational, social and personal development of students, including students with additional learning, behavioural or physical needs. This role involves daily, direct contact with students, so the successful candidate would need to meet all religious requirements stipulated in this advert and be a genuine role model of our Christian values.</p>
<p>Salary is based on the College's Administration Pay Scale, which is above the Award rate. The specific level offered will depend on the successful candidate's experience and the complexity of support required. The main duties of the role are listed below:</p>
<ul>
<li>Support teachers in delivering practical lessons and learning programs in Food Technology and Art, including food preparation and classroom/workshop setup</li>
<li>Provide individual and small-group support to students, including implementing individual education, behaviour or health care plans as directed</li>
<li>Help students engage with the curriculum across practical and core learning areas</li>
<li>Supervise students during class time, transitions, breaks, excursions and incursions</li>
<li>Provide personal care, mobility, communication or sensory support to students with additional needs, as required</li>
<li>Prepare and maintain classroom/workshop materials and learning spaces, and assist with related administrative tasks</li>
<li>Monitor and record student progress and behaviour, and support positive behaviour strategies</li>
<li>Model and uphold the College's Christian values, and contribute to staff meetings, professional learning and College events</li>
<li>Carry out any other tasks reasonably requested by the classroom teacher or Principals</li>

<p><strong>Selection Criteria</strong></p>
<p>To be successful, the applicant must have:</p>
<p><i>Essential</i></p>
<ul>
<li>Certificate III in Education Support, Disability Support or a related field</li>
<li>Pastor's reference and evidence of protestant, evangelical faith alignment</li>
</ul>
<p><i>Desirable</i></p>
<ul>
<li>Previous experience as an Education Assistant</li>
<li>Certificate IV in Education Support, Disability Support or a related field</li>
<li>Current First Aid Senior Certificate</li>
<li>Relevant training in manual handling, positive behaviour support, or specific therapeutic approaches (e.g. Auslan, AAC, autism-specific strategies)</li>
</ul>
<p><i>In addition, the applicant must be able to demonstrate the following:</i></p>
<ul>
<li>interpersonal skills that build and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and families</li>
<li>ability to work collaboratively in a team and to take direction from the classroom teacher, while working independently when required</li>
<li>ability to support students with additional learning, behavioural or physical needs</li>
<li>problem-solving skills that demonstrate the ability to readily refer and consult with your line manager</li>
<li>ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement in matters relating to student welfare</li>
<li>experience supporting students with disability, additional needs, or English as an additional language</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Eligibility</strong></p>
<p>Prior to commencement, employees will need to meet the following essential compliance requirements:</p>
<ul>
<li>Hold or obtain a current Working with Children Check</li>
<li>Hold or obtain a satisfactory National Police Clearance</li>
<li>Sign the College's Code of Conduct (including Faith Statement) and the Employment Contract</li>
<li>Provide original Birth Certificate or Passport, or Visa Grant or VEVO document as relevant, demonstrating Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or unrestricted rights to work in Australia</li>
<li>Provide a copy of any qualifications and certificates</li>
<li>Provide a Pastoral reference from a Protestant minister/elder, from a Church that subscribes to the Nicene Creed and a traditional Christian worldview</li>
