<p><strong>About the Role</strong></p>
<p>HillSide Christian College is seeking a full-time Gardener to manage all aspects of the maintenance and development of our grounds. The College is known for its outstanding, aesthetically pleasing landscapes, and the Gardener will play a key role in maintaining this standard. As the grounds are closely connected to the College's Christian mission and vision, the successful candidate must meet the religious requirements outlined below.</p>
<p>Salary will be based on the College's Administration Pay Scale, which sits above the Award rate. The specific level offered will depend on the successful candidate's experience and the complexity of support required.</p>
<p><strong>Key Duties</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Lead the development of garden beds, lawns and reticulation</li>
<li>Manage all aspects of reticulation and water management, including development and troubleshooting</li>
<li>Maintain and improve grounds, ovals, lawns and garden beds</li>
<li>Collaborate with other grounds staff and management on new area development</li>
<li>Carry out routine pressure cleaning and proactive maintenance (paths, paving, playgrounds and gutters)</li>
<li>Prepare or oversee sports line marking and grounds preparation for College events</li>
<li>Identify and make safe any major maintenance, repair, or OH&S issues, and report them promptly</li>
<li>Undertake basic building maintenance, including painting and plastering, minor repairs to locks, windows and doors, and general fixes (hooks, light bulbs, gutters, beams, poles)</li>
<li>Assist with repair requests, including basic plumbing and carpentry</li>
<li>Order, safely operate, and maintain power tools and machinery, and help keep service logs up to date</li>
<li>Assist with moving furniture and equipment for events</li>
<li>Support College events with set-up and pack-up</li>
<li>Perform general ad hoc cleaning tasks related to the grounds</li>
<li>Promote environmental sustainability through recycling</li>
<li>Undertake other duties as required by the Principal or their delegate</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>About You</strong></p>
<p><i>Essential</i></p>
<ul>
<li>At least 2 years' experience as a Gardener</li>
<li>Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S), particularly the safe use and storage of chemicals</li>
<li>Ability to operate and maintain power tools and machinery</li>
</ul>
<p><i>Desirable</i></p>
<ul>
<li>Heavy Rigid or similar (HR/MR Class) Heavy Vehicle Licence</li>
<li>Current Senior First Aid Certificate</li>
<li>Qualifications in horticulture or a related field</li>
</ul>
<p><i>You will also need to demonstrate:</i></p>
<ul>
<li>Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships</li>
<li>The ability to work collaboratively within a team, take direction, and work independently when required</li>
<li>Good problem-solving skills and the judgement to consult your line manager when appropriate</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Eligibility Requirements</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Prior to commencement, employees must:</li>
<li>Hold or obtain a current Working with Children Check</li>
<li>Hold or obtain a satisfactory National Police Clearance</li>
<li>Hold a current Driver's Licence (minimum 'C' Class)</li>
<li>Sign the College's Code of Conduct (including Faith Statement) and Employment Contract</li>
<li>Provide original documentation confirming Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or unrestricted right to work in Australia (e.g. Birth Certificate, Passport, Visa Grant, or VEVO document)</li>
<li>Provide copies of relevant qualifications and certificates</li>
</ul>
