<p>Catholic Education Northern Territory (CENT) operates 18 Catholic schools across the Northern Territory, from Early Learning to Secondary, including remote schools. This role is based at the Catholic Education Office (CEO) in Berrimah.</p>
<p><strong>The position:</strong></p>
<p>The Payroll Officer is responsible for high-quality, compliant and timely payroll processing across the Catholic Education Office NT. You'll help ensure staff are paid accurately and on time.</p>
<p>You'll also contribute to continuous improvements, maintain the integrity of payroll data, and support the payroll function through problem-solving and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.</p>
<p>The position is an integral part of CENT’s School Services, Payroll team and reports to the Payroll Manager. This is a full-time permanent position.</p>

<p><strong>Key responsibilities: </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Deliver efficient, end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing, including post-payrun reporting, compliance fulfilments and payments</li>
<li>Interpret and apply the CENT Enterprise Agreement to ensure accurate, compliant payroll outcomes</li>
<li>Conduct leave audits, calculations and reconciliations, resolving discrepancies efficiently</li>
<li>Manage statutory reporting (PAYG, Super, STP) and EOFY reconciliations, and support internal and external payroll audits</li>
<li>Provide timely, professional support for payroll queries and troubleshooting</li>
<li>Assist the Payroll Manager with the fortnightly payroll cycle and related statutory obligations</li>
<li>Partner with School Finance teams to support a smooth transition to the payroll management system</li>
<li>Maintain accurate, secure and up-to-date employee records within the payroll system</li>
<li>Manage payroll system workflows (TechnologyOne) in line with established guidelines and procedures</li>

<p><strong>About you:</strong></p>
<p>We are looking for someone who has:</p>
<ul>
<li>Hands-on experience in payroll processing using a payroll/HRIS system (TechnologyOne or similar), with strong Excel skills</li>
<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work confidently across a culturally diverse workplace</li>
<li>A trusted approach to handling private and sensitive information</li>
<li>Highly organised and accurate, with the ability to manage high volumes of payroll data and meet strict deadlines, often autonomously.</li>
<li>A Respect of Aboriginal culture and Catholic Ethos. </li>
<li>A valid Ochre Card or eligibility to obtain one.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Desirable Criteria: </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>A relevant qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience)</li>
</ul>
