Director of Boarding
The Armidale School
Commencement January, 2027

At The Armidale School (TAS), boarding is much more than accommodation - it is home. It is where lifelong friendships are formed, resilience is developed, and young people learn to live with independence, responsibility, and respect for others. Guided by our Vision of Excellence inspired by Character, Built through Challenge, Developing Graduates who are Capable, Kind and Confident, we believe our boarding community plays a vital role in shaping the character and life experiences of every student who calls TAS home. As one of Australia's leading regional co-educational Anglican boarding and day schools, TAS combines a proud heritage with a progressive outlook, creating an environment where every boarder is known, valued and supported to thrive.

We are seeking an outstanding leader to join our Executive Team as Director of Boarding. This is a rare opportunity to lead one of the defining features of a TAS education and provide strategic direction for a vibrant boarding community of more than 230 students. Working alongside Heads of House, teaching staff and fellow Executive members, you will lead a contemporary residential program that promotes student wellbeing, belonging, academic engagement and personal growth. You'll also guide the continued evolution of our boarding program, ensuring it reflects best practice while remaining true to the School's Anglican ethos, Character Framework and values of Connection, Courage and Commitment.

You'll be an authentic and experienced leader who understands that exceptional boarding is built on strong relationships, visible leadership, and a genuine commitment to young people. You'll bring expertise in pastoral care, student wellbeing and staff leadership, while confidently balancing the strategic, operational and community aspects of a large residential program. You'll foster a culture where students feel safe, supported and challenged to grow, where staff are empowered to do their best work, and where families know their children are cared for with professionalism, compassion, and integrity.

This is an opportunity to lead a thriving regional boarding community and shape an experience that leaves a lasting impact on the lives of young people. As part of the School Executive, you'll contribute to TAS's strategic direction while playing an active role in the School's rich co-curricular life. In return, you'll join a welcoming and values-driven community, receive generous leadership time release and a Level 3 Leadership Allowance under the Independent Schools NSW (Teachers) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025, together with a school residence and utilities allowance.

If you're inspired by the opportunity to build community, lead with purpose and help create a boarding experience where every student can thrive, we would love to hear from you.
