<p><strong>The Role:</strong></p>
<p>As Head of Visual Art and Design, you will lead a passionate team and champion high-impact teaching and learning. You’ll drive curriculum development in Visual Communication Design, foster cross-curricular connections, and support contemporary practice, including digital, laser-cutting and 3-D printing. You’ll build teacher capability, model professional excellence, and maintain a child-safe, respectful environment.</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Develop, implement, and review visual arts curriculum (Years 7 to 12, including VCE/VET)</li>
<li>Lead and mentor a team of teachers, fostering a culture of feedback and collaboration</li>
<li>Champion diverse and contemporary teaching strategies</li>
<li>Oversee assessment, reporting, and documentation</li>
<li>Lead departmental meetings and engage stakeholders</li>
<li>Plan, coordinate, attend subject-related tours, including overseas tours</li>
<li>Manage annual budget and resources</li>
<li>Represent Strathcona at events</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Selection Criteria:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience teaching Visual Communication Design at VCE level</li>
<li>VIT registration and demonstrated child safety knowledge</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of contemporary learning theories and art/design technologies</li>
<li>Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills</li>
<li>Ability to prepare and manage budgets and resources</li>
<li>Curriculum design and team coordination experience</li>
<li>VET qualifications highly regarded</li>
<li>Adobe Suite and relevant digital/design technology proficiency</li>
