Cranbrook School is seeking an outstanding Teacher-Librarian to join our Junior School Library team, based at the Junior School campus in Rose Bay.

<p><strong>ABOUT THE POSITION</strong></p> <p>This is a full-time, fixed term position&nbsp;commencing 1 June 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter) and concluding on 9 April 2027.</p> <p>This role ensures the teaching and learning, resources and services provided by the Library are central to the implementation of the Primary Years Programme and support the literature and information literacy needs of the Junior School community.</p> <p>In this role, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with classroom teaching teams to integrate information resources and technology seamlessly into the curriculum, foster a vibrant reading culture and develop strong information literacy skills for all students.</p> <p>Responsibilities and tasks span a range of library and information services and include developing and maintaining the current and relevant library collection, tightly aligned with the pedagogical needs and evolving curriculum of the Junior School; ensuring smooth and efficient daily administration of the library, including the maintenance of system resources and the effective oversight of support staff; promoting the library as the central learning hub of the School, providing supportive wellbeing care and championing wholistic growth and engagement of all Junior School students.</p> <p>Cranbrook School teachers enjoy a stimulating work environment as part of a team of talented professionals, excellent opportunities for professional development, and attractive remuneration and benefits.</p> <p><strong>ABOUT YOU</strong></p> <p>You are a dynamic individual with an appetite for a busy and key position in a vibrant educational environment. An experienced teacher-librarian, you have a demonstrated customer service-based approach in all interactions, strong IT skills and experience with learning management systems.</p> <p>You are an excellent communicator, creative and able to work well with students, parents and other teachers. You are committed to continual professional development and reflection and have a genuine interest in the growth of children.</p> <p><strong>SELECTION CRITERIA</strong></p> <ul> <li>NESA accreditation to teach in New South Wales (required)</li> <li>Hold or be working towards ALIA-accredited qualifications in Teacher Librarianship or equivalent</li> <li>3 to 5 years’ experience, preferably in a Junior School context</li> <li>Deep knowledge of library systems and processes</li> <li>Passion for the importance of building foundational literacy skills and a love of reading</li> <li>Knowledge of current trends and technologies in Library Services and Information Management</li> <li>A passion for learning and sharing emerging technologies</li> <li>Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills</li> <li>Highly organised with excellent time management skills</li> <li>Willingness to participate fully in the cocurricular life of the School</li> <li>A level of mobility that supports the ability to respond to a first aid / behavioural incident</li> <li>Strong physical, mental and emotional health to deal with the required demands and responsibilities of the role</li> <li>Current First Aid and CPR qualifications&nbsp;</li> <li>A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children&nbsp;</li> <li>A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p>Experience with, or knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme is not essential but would be advantageous.</p> <p><strong>HOW TO APPLY</strong></p> <p>Applications should include a resume and a cover letter addressing the selection criteria and reasons for your interest in the position.
