Learning Diversity Leader – Behaviour Support for Learning (POL 3) at St Brigid’s Gisborne. Specialist role supporting students with complex behavioural needs, building staff capacity for inclusive adjustments, and working collaboratively with Diversity, Wellbeing and PBL leaders.

<p><strong>Part-Time| 2-year appointment, negotiable for the right applicant</strong></p> <p>St Brigid’s Primary School Gisborne is a welcoming and vibrant Catholic school community where we strive to nurture each child. With a strong focus on wellbeing, inclusion and authentic relationships, we are committed to ensuring every learner feels safe, supported and empowered to thrive.</p> <p>We are seeking a passionate and experienced educator to take on the role of <strong>Learning Diversity Leader – Behaviour Support for Learning</strong>. This is a key leadership position within our school, working in close partnership with the Diversity Administrative Coordinator, Positive Behaviours for Learning Leader, and the Wellbeing team to ensure every student is supported to succeed—academically, socially and emotionally.</p> <p>This position is ideally <strong>four days per week</strong>. However, there is an opportunity to negotiate a <strong>full-time role</strong>, with the additional day aligned to another area of school responsibility based on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.</p> <p><strong>About the Role</strong></p> <p>This role plays a pivotal part in strengthening a proactive, inclusive and relationship-based approach to behaviour across our school. The successful applicant will:</p> <ul> <li>Lead the embedding of consistent, whole-school preventative and positive behaviour practices</li> <li>Build strong, respectful relationships with students, particularly those requiring additional support</li> <li>Support teachers to create calm, structured and inclusive classroom environments</li> <li>Work collaboratively with families and external professionals to ensure wrap-around support</li> <li>Contribute to a culture where every student experiences a strong sense of belonging</li> </ul> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Work in partnership with staff, students, families and allied health professionals to plan for and support students with social, emotional and behavioural needs</li> <li>Build the capacity of staff to utilise the Vision for Engagement and MTSS alongside the CECV Intervention Framework to accurately identify, assess and monitor students requiring behavioural adjustments</li> <li>Support teachers to design inclusive learning environments, where curriculum is personalised through deliberate and appropriate adjustments to maximise student growth</li> <li>Provide expert guidance to ensure assessment data informs targeted teaching, including the development and review of SMART goals within Personalised Learning Plans and Behaviour Support Plans</li> <li>Support the implementation of evidence-based behaviour support practices, including: <ul> <li>Functional Behaviour Analysis (FBA)</li> <li>Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)</li> <li>Development of Behaviour Support Plans and Safety Plans</li> </ul></li> <li>Build teacher capacity to effectively support students with social, emotional and behavioural needs, including Autism</li> <li>Lead and deliver professional learning, including for Learning Support Officers, to strengthen whole-school consistency and practice</li> <li>Provide expert advice to school leaders to inform strategic planning and school improvement priorities</li> <li>Maintain a strong understanding of current research, policy and best practice in inclusive education and behaviour support</li> <li>Support the wider school community to understand and enact inclusive practices that promote belonging for all students</li> <li>Undertake other duties as directed by the Principal&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>We Are Seeking an Educator Who:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Is deeply committed to inclusive education and the wellbeing of every student</li> <li>Brings experience in supporting students with complex behavioural and social-emotional needs, including Autism</li> <li>Has knowledge and understanding of the MACS Vision for Engagement</li> <li>Demonstrates strong knowledge of evidence-based frameworks and inclusive practices</li> <li>Builds authentic, respectful relationships with students, staff and families</li> <li>Is confident in leading, coaching and influencing practice across a team</li> <li>Approaches their work with initiative, reflection and strong organisational skills</li> <li>Holds current VIT registration (essential)</li> <li>Holds (or is working towards) postgraduate qualifications in Inclusive/Special Education (desirable)</li> </ul> <p><strong>Leadership at St Brigid’s</strong></p> <p>As a member of our Leadership Team, you will:</p> <ul> <li>Be a visible, relational and values-driven leader</li> <li>Contribute to a positive and respectful staff culture grounded in trust</li> <li>Model high expectations and a commitment to continuous improvement</li> <li>Share responsibility for student wellbeing, engagement and school-wide success</li> </ul> <p>You will actively engage in leadership meetings, professional learning and the ongoing implementation of our school improvement priorities.</p> <p><strong>Child Safety Commitment</strong></p> <p>St Brigid’s is committed to the safety, wellbeing and protection of all children.
