We have a tradition of Catholic Education spanning 154 years in the Burnie community. Our school is a double stream school with two of each grade level from Kindergarten to Grade 6 with a total of 460 students. Currently, our staffing model is designed to support two Student Support Coordinators.</p> <p>Our students enjoy the full range of curriculum choices with a strong emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy. We value and celebrate the diversity of our school community. and take a shared responsibility, for the wellbeing of each member of our community.</p> <p>We are seeking a dedicated, relational and highly skilled Student Support Coordinator to work in partnership with our existing Student Support Coordinator. This is a key leadership role that supports the spiritual, academic and wellbeing needs of all students, ensuring every child is known, valued and supported to flourish.</p> <p>The Student Support Coordinator leads the coordination of learning support, wellbeing initiatives and inclusive education practices across the school. The role works closely with teachers, support staff, families and external providers to ensure high‑quality, personalised learning experiences for students with diverse needs, including those with disabilities, learning difficulties, behavioural needs, and students who are gifted and/or talented.</p> <p><strong>About the Role</strong></p> <p>The Student Support Coordinator is the key teacher responsible for student support across the school. Core responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Lead the coordination, development and review of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).</li> <li>Oversee targeted support for students with specific needs, learning difficulties and diverse learning profiles.</li> <li>Coordinate the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) and associated accountability requirements.</li> <li>Work collaboratively with teachers, teacher assistants and specialist staff to implement differentiated curriculum, personalised learning environments and assistive technologies.</li> <li>Provide modelling, coaching and advice on effective teaching strategies, behaviour support, transition planning and inclusive practices.</li> <li>Liaise with external specialists, agencies and NDIS providers as the primary point of contact.</li> <li>Lead the coordination and implementation of wellbeing programs and initiatives across the school.</li> <li>Support the Principal with students presenting behavioural needs, ensuring restorative, respectful and student‑centred approaches.</li> <li>Coordinate Learning Plan meetings, case conferences and professional learning for staff.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Skills, Experience and Attributes</strong></p> <ul> <li>Considerable experience as a classroom teacher across a range of grade levels.</li> <li>Demonstrated commitment to inclusive education and supporting students with diverse needs.</li> <li>Experience implementing differentiated curriculum and personalised learning approaches.</li> <li>Strong communication skills and the ability to work professionally with colleagues, parents and external providers.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Postgraduate qualification (or working towards) in Inclusive Education.</li> <li>Tertiary study with a focus on students with specific needs.</li> <li>Ability to conduct targeted assessments.</li> <li>Current Motor Vehicle Licence.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Why Join Stella Maris?</strong></p> <ul> <li>Be part of a welcoming, mission‑driven school community.</li> <li>Contribute to meaningful work that supports students, families, and staff.</li> <li>A beautiful regional setting, with a collaborative and supportive staff culture.</li> <li>Enjoy a role with variety, autonomy, and opportunities to make a real impact.</li> </ul> <p>Catholic Education Tasmania and Stella Maris Catholic School are committed to supporting the rights of children and young people and providing a safe and supportive environment for them.
