With a deliberate focus on student achievement, teaching and learning methodologies, school wellbeing, faith development, and resource programs, we seek to attract candidates who will help foster 'A daring faith and dynamic education, developing strong minds and gentle hearts' in our students.<br><br><strong>Position Purpose</strong><br><br> The role of the <strong>Diverse Learning Teacher</strong> is to provide direct and indirect support for students with diverse learning needs and for staff who are teaching students with diverse learning needs.<br><br> The Diverse Learning Teacher will work directly with the Diverse Learning Coordinator and other staff to ensure quality pedagogy and the development of the school as a professional learning community to enhance outcomes for students.<br><br> The Diverse Learning Teacher position may carry a teaching load at the discretion of the Principal.<br><br><strong>As a member of our Diverse Learning Department, your responsibilities will include:</strong></p> <ul> <li>supporting the Marist Catholic culture of the College</li> <li>providing an exemplary learning support experience for students</li> <li>current knowledge of The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), Disability Standards for Education and NESA requirements for supporting students with disability</li> <li>current knowledge of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD), its processes and obligation to schools. Assisting with collecting and collating the evidence required to include students in the NCCD</li> <li>ability to develop, implement, assess, and monitor individual student plans</li> <li>ability to create inclusive, rigorous learning experiences catering to the diverse needs of students and able to demonstrate proficiency in this area</li> <li>ability to work collaboratively with staff and families to support students with specific learning needs</li> <li>ability to implement diagnostic tools, or a willingness to learn these</li> <li>willingness to contribute to the College's academic, spiritual and co-curricular life</li> <li>supporting students in their learning in the classroom on a regular basis.</li> </ul> <p><strong>To be successful in the role you will have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>proven experience as an effective, highly skilled classroom practitioner</li> <li>experience in learning support in a secondary school</li> <li>an interest and willingness to learn Diverse Learning processes and systems of support</li> <li>a commitment to the Catholic and Marist educational values</li> <li>a commitment to child safety</li> <li>the ability to work collaboratively with peers and leadership</li> <li>a commitment to ongoing personal professional development</li> <li>formal qualifications in Special Education would be highly desirable</li> <li>experience in an additional subject area (e.g. English, Maths, TAS, Religion, etc) is advantageous</li> <li>a tertiary qualification in Education and NESA accreditation</li> <li>Religious Education qualifications or the willingness to achieve them as per <a href="https://sydcatholicschools.nsw.edu.au/policies/accreditation-policy-to-work-teach-and-lead-in-sydney-catholic-schools"><strong>Accreditation Policy to Work, Teach, and Lead.</strong></a></li> </ul> <p><strong>Why Work for Sydney Catholic Schools</strong><br><br> Joining <a href="https://sydcatholicschools.nsw.edu.au/"><strong>Sydney Catholic Schools</strong></a> (SCS) means being part of NSW's largest Catholic education community, with over 145 schools and 75,000 students.
