<p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Work Health and Safety Officer</strong><br><strong>1.0 FTE ongoing</strong><br><strong>(Southern Region)</strong><br> &nbsp;</p> <p>Catholic Education Tasmania is seeking a WHS Officer – Southern Region to provide specialist work health and safety and child safety compliance support to schools, ensuring safe, secure and compliant learning environments that enhance student learning outcomes.</p> <p>This role is a significant opportunity to work closely with schools, system teams and regulators to strengthen WHS practices, improve risk mitigation, and ensure compliance with statutory obligations across the Southern Region.</p> <p><strong>As a key member of the Risk, Work Health Safety &amp; Compliance team, you will:</strong></p> <p><strong>About the Role</strong></p> <ul> <li>Provide expert WHS and child safety advice to schools, supporting legislative and organisational compliance.</li> <li>Deliver predominantly onsite, structured support to Southern Region schools, alongside contributions to CET’s system-wide safety and compliance framework.</li> <li>Strengthen safety culture, hazard management, emergency preparedness, contractor oversight and child safety practices.</li> <li>Develop and deliver WHS training, guidance, communications and learning resources.</li> <li>Support incident and hazard management processes, including reporting, investigation, risk assessment and closure.</li> <li>Monitor compliance through inspections, audits and reviews, collaborating closely with Principals, leadership teams and CET colleagues to drive continuous improvement.</li> </ul> <p><strong>About You</strong></p> <ul> <li>You are committed to the Catholic mission and values and understand the importance of safeguarding children and supporting safe learning environments.</li> <li>You are practical, collaborative and confident working directly with school communities.</li> <li>You demonstrate professional integrity, sound judgement and the ability to work independently with broad direction.</li> <li>You are passionate about continuous improvement and building positive, proactive safety cultures.</li> </ul> <p><strong>You Will Bring</strong></p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated experience in WHS compliance, risk management and safety systems.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, child safety requirements and statutory obligations.</li> <li>Experience delivering WHS training and supporting diverse stakeholders.</li> <li>High-level communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills.</li> <li>The ability to manage competing priorities and provide practical, solutions‑focused advice.</li> <li>Confidence working in school environments and supporting change.</li> <li>A current Tasmanian driver’s licence and willingness to travel within the region.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p> <p><strong>Required</strong></p> <ul> <li>Certificate IV or Diploma in WHS, or extensive equivalent WHS experience.</li> <li>Accreditation A to work in Catholic Education, or willingness to obtain.</li> <li>Working with Vulnerable People Registration.</li> <li>Satisfactory National Police Check.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Desirable</strong></p> <ul> <li>Tertiary qualifications in WHS or a related discipline.</li> <li>Current First Aid qualification.</li> <li>Experience in delivering WHS training, auditing, contractor management and WHS management systems.</li> <li>Strong capability in data analysis and use of safety and reporting systems.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Why Join Us?</strong></p> <p>You will join a values‑driven organisation committed to:</p> <ul> <li>Creating safe, compliant and welcoming learning environments for every student.</li> <li>A Catholic mission grounded in dignity, care and service.</li> <li>Collaboration with schools, families and communities.</li> <li>Continuous improvement and professional growth.</li> <li>Supporting staff wellbeing and safeguarding children and young people.</li> </ul> <p>If you see yourself as our next WHS Officer – Southern Region, we’d love to hear from you.<br> For further information, including the application package, please visit our Careers page:<br><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://careers.catholic.tas.edu.au/en/listing/">https://careers.catholic.tas.edu.au/en/listing/</a></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Applications Close: Wednesday, 8 April 2026 at 10.00am</strong></p> <p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><i>Catholic Education Tasmania are committed to supporting the rights of children and young people and providing a safe and supportive environment for them.&nbsp;
