<p><strong>Prep Classroom Teacher Position (Maternity Leave Position)</strong></p> <p>St Joseph’s Primary School, Elsternwick, is a thriving Catholic school community committed to excellence in teaching and learning, strong partnerships with families, and the holistic development of every child.</p> <p>We are seeking a passionate and dedicated&nbsp;<strong>Prep Classroom Teacher</strong> to join our team for a&nbsp;<strong>12-month maternity leave replacement commencing Term 3, 2026</strong>. There is a&nbsp;<strong>possibility of ongoing employment beyond this period</strong> for the right candidate.</p> <p>At St Joseph’s, we are proud to be at the forefront of&nbsp;<strong>evidence-based teaching practices</strong>, particularly in the areas of&nbsp;<strong>structured literacy and the Science of Reading</strong>. Our teachers work collaboratively within a supportive professional culture that values explicit instruction, strong instructional routines, and continuous professional learning.</p> <p><strong>Commencement:</strong> July 13, 2026</p> <p>The successful applicant will:</p> <ul> <li>Teach a&nbsp;<strong>Prep class</strong> within a highly collaborative junior school team</li> <li>Deliver high-quality instruction grounded in the&nbsp;<strong>Science of Learning and the Science of Reading</strong></li> <li>Implement&nbsp;<strong>Structured Literacy approaches</strong>, including&nbsp;<strong>Multisensory Structured Language (MSL)</strong> practices</li> <li>Work closely with colleagues in&nbsp;<strong>Professional Learning Teams</strong> to analyse student data and plan targeted instruction</li> <li>Contribute positively to the vibrant life of the school community</li> </ul> <p><strong>Applicants should demonstrate:</strong></p> <ul> <li>A commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education</li> <li>Strong knowledge and experience in Structured Literacy and explicit teaching practices</li> <li>Experience or training in Multisensory Structured Language (MSL) or a willingness to undertake professional learning in this area</li> <li>The ability to build positive and supportive relationships with students, colleagues and families</li> <li>A commitment to collaborative practice and ongoing professional growth</li> </ul> <p><strong>Special Requirements:</strong></p> <ul> <li>accreditation to teach in a Catholic school, or a willingness to obtain accreditation to teach Religion in a Catholic school</li> <li>current VIT registration (or eligibility for graduates)</li> </ul> <p><strong>Child Safety Commitment:&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>St Joseph's community is committed to the safety, wellbeing and protection of all children in our care.</li> </ul> <p><i>St Joseph’s is governed under the authority of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Limited (MACS) ABN 18643442371.
