This is a key role that contributes directly to the smooth running of school processes and provides specialist advice to the Principal and School Board.</p> <p><strong>Finance Officer: 1.0 FTE</strong></p> <p><strong>Ongoing, Full-time</strong></p> <p><strong>Commencing ASAP</strong></p> <p><strong>About the Role</strong></p> <p>The Finance Officer is responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate delivery of the school’s financial, administrative, and business services. Working closely with the Principal, the role provides expert advice, maintains strong internal controls, and supports high‑quality financial management across the school.</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities include:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Maintaining robust internal control systems aligned with accounting and financial standards</li> <li>Ensuring accuracy and quality across business processes and data</li> <li>Coordinating accounts receivable and accounts payable</li> <li>Overseeing financial processing and expenditure authorisation</li> <li>Completing monthly bank reconciliations</li> <li>Managing school fee accounts.</li> <li>Preparing reports, submissions, and responses for the Principal and Board</li> <li>Ensuring effective payroll processes</li> <li>Monitoring cash flow and supporting annual audit processes</li> <li>Assisting with budget development and monitoring</li> <li>Preparing monthly financial reports and analysing variances</li> <li>Providing financial advice and recommendations to leadership</li> <li>Maintaining efficient office systems and high‑quality customer service</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Skills, Experience and Attributes</strong></p> <p>We are looking for someone who brings:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in finance and business administration</li> <li>A Diploma in Accounting/Business Services or equivalent (a tertiary qualification in accounting is highly regarded)</li> <li>Strong interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills</li> <li>Proficiency with accounting software, databases, Microsoft Office and Google applications</li> <li>A collaborative, adaptable, and solutions‑focused approach</li> </ul> <p><strong>Why Join St Therese’s?</strong></p> <ul> <li>Be part of a welcoming, mission‑driven school community</li> <li>Contribute to meaningful work that supports students, families, and staff</li> <li>Work in a supportive environment where your expertise is valued</li> <li>Enjoy a role with variety, autonomy, and opportunities to make a real impact</li> </ul> <p>Catholic Education Tasmania and St Therese’s Catholic School are committed to supporting the rights of children and young people and providing a safe and supportive environment for them.
