The position of Head of House is responsible to the Director of Pastoral Care for the care, discipline, guidance and participation of students within their House, in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, values and policies of MacKillop Catholic College.
<p>MacKillop Catholic College is a Catholic Secondary College on Hobart’s Eastern Shore with a strong commitment to academic excellence and pastoral care. In 2023, we introduced Grades 11 and 12, and our student numbers continue to grow. Our college community is built on strong values, and we strive to create an inclusive environment where all students are encouraged to reach their full potential. </p>
<p>To support this growth, we are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of House<strong> </strong>to join our leadership team and play a key role in strengthen student wellbeing and engagement.</p>
<p><strong>About the role:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Starting in Term 2 - Monday 4th May</strong></p>
<p>As <strong>Head of House</strong>, you will lead the wellbeing, development and day‑to‑day experience of students within your House in a manner consistent with the mission and values of MacKillop Catholic College. You will provide leadership and guidance to your pastoral team to ensure that students are known, cared for and have maximum opportunities to positively participate within the College community.</p>
<ul>
<li>Provide ongoing wellbeing and pastoral support aligned with the College’s vision of excellence, compassion, and service.</li>
<li>Shape and champion a positive, inclusive House culture.</li>
<li>Drive initiatives that strengthen belonging, engagement and student achievement.</li>
<li>Support Pastoral Care Teachers in the organisation and conduct of House-based groups, including behaviour management protocols and attendance monitoring.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate records in SEQTA, ensuring compliance with College protocols.</li>
<li>Be a visible presence around the College to build positive connections with students.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>About you:</strong></p>
<p>You may be an experienced pastoral leader looking for a new challenge, or an emerging leader ready to take the next step in your career. You'll bring:</p>
<ul>
<li>Experience supporting student wellbeing and contributing to (or leading) pastoral care initiatives.</li>
<li>Lead and support a culture of highly effective learning and teaching so that all students may grow in their academic achievement and social development.</li>
<li>High-level ability to be a proactive problem solver and decision maker.</li>
<li>Strong ability to mentor and guide student leaders, collaborate effectively with staff, and develop capacity in others through coaching and mentoring.</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal skills with parents, students, and staff.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to drive and lead change to build a culture of continuous improvement.</li>
<li>Excellent organisational and time management skills.</li>
<li>Teaching qualification and registration with the Teachers Registration Board of Tasmania.</li>
</ul>
<p><i><strong>Teaching Area Flexibility:</strong></i></p>
<p><i>This leadership role is open to teachers from various specialty teaching areas. We welcome applications from educators across different disciplines who bring strong pastoral care and leadership skills.</i></p>
