CMCB is launching a new Years 7–9 Basketball stream in 2026 and seeking a skilled coach to join our Sports Development Program team.
<p><strong>Full-time 12-month Fixed Term (possibility of ongoing)</strong></p>
<p>Catherine McAuley College Bendigo is excited to launch an expanded Sports Development Program in 2026, extending our successful Football and Netball streams to now include Basketball for students in Years 7–9.</p>
<p>We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and skilled teacher to lead and deliver our new Basketball Development stream. This is a teaching position requiring current VIT registration, with a focus on both coaching excellence and student development.</p>
<p><strong>About the Sports Development Program (SDP)</strong></p>
<p>The CMCB Sports Development Program is designed to extend students’ technical skills, game knowledge, and personal development within their chosen sport. The program aims to:</p>
<ul>
<li>Develop sport-specific skills in a structured, high‑quality learning environment</li>
<li>Promote leadership, teamwork, resilience, and personal responsibility</li>
<li>Foster pathways for students to continue their development through Years 7–9</li>
<li>Encourage service, community engagement, and participation in the broader sporting community</li>
</ul>
<p>The program is timetabled as part of the school day and runs for the full school year.</p>

<p><strong>About the Role</strong></p>
<p>We are seeking a passionate teacher to deliver the new Basketball Development Program at Catherine McAuley College in 2026. The successful applicant will work with Years 7–9 students and collaborate with existing SDP staff in Football and Netball.</p>
<ul>
<li>Deliver high‑quality coaching sessions aligned with program goals</li>
<li>Develop players’ technical, tactical, physical, and personal development</li>
<li>Support trial and selection processes for program applicants</li>
<li>Provide ongoing feedback, guidance, and encouragement to students</li>
<li>Model and promote program values: teamwork, leadership, community, and service</li>
<li>Contribute to the growth and identity of the new basketball stream</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>What We’re Looking For</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Current VIT Registration (mandatory)</li>
<li>Recognised teaching qualifications</li>
<li>Extensive basketball experience, including:
<ul>
<li>High-level or elite playing experience</li>
<li>Demonstrated basketball coaching experience at school, club, representative, or higher levels</li>
</ul></li>
<li>Strong understanding of youth athlete development and wellbeing </li>
<li>Ability to engage, motivate, and support young people</li>
<li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills </li>
<li>Commitment to the values of Catherine McAuley College and Catholic Education</li>
