The Instrumental and Vocal Lesson Program Tutor role is to provide musical and pastoral education within the Instrumental and Vocal Lesson program. We have a temporary position for a Guitar Teacher for a five-week period to cover a leave vacancy in late February and March 2026. Full time or part time hours would be considered.

<p><strong>Position Purpose</strong></p> <p>The Instrumental and Vocal Lesson Program Tutor role is to provide musical and pastoral education within the Instrumental and Vocal Lesson program, and to support and work cooperatively with Teachers and Support Staff, peripatetic Instrument and Vocal Teachers, and Performing Arts students across the College.</p> <p>The Instrumental and Vocal Lesson Program Tutor will demonstrate an active support of the College’s aims, objectives and policies and model the College’s core values of faith, love, justice, compassion and hospitality. The position needs to work independently and show initiative to support teachers of Performing Arts across Years 4-12 and assist the Head of Performing Arts.</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>To work collaboratively and supportively within a team of professionals and in conjunction with the College’s Teachers and Support Staff, especially the Head of Performing Arts and the Performing Arts Assistant.</li> <li>To provide the appropriate duty of care for students in their charge while maintaining professional responsibility for supervision, safety and wellbeing.</li> <li>To provide effective, differentiated and responsive musical and pastoral education to students enrolled in the Instrumental and Vocal Lesson and Co-curricular Performing Arts programs. For example, one-on-one private lessons, small group lessons, ensemble lessons or other activities in response to the College’s changing needs.</li> <li>To instruct students as an assistant to the College’s Teachers in Curricular Performing Arts programs, and to assist when they are making assessments of student learning and engagement.</li> <li>To design, implement and reflect on recruitment and retention strategies for students in all Performing Arts programs, and to meet performance targets for enrolments as required.</li> <li>To assist in the enrolment, timetabling, lesson billing and staff allocation processes for Performing Arts programs.</li> <li>To assist in the design, coordination, setup and running of events within Performing Arts programs. For example, conducting ensembles; scheduling, documenting and managing performances, auditions and competitions; liaising with artists, accompanists and service providers; etc.</li> <li>To assist with the management of instruments and equipment. For example, costing; negotiating; purchasing; stock takes; assessing condition; undertaking minor repairs; liaising with repairers; managing and transporting assets, etc.</li> <li>To contribute to the ongoing improvement of the College’s educational programs under the guidance of the College’s Teachers, and to further promote the academic culture of the College.</li> <li>Use ICT efficiently, accurately and creatively; to be focused on learning new technologies and maintaining records while upholding file management strategies.</li> <li>To provide superior service in all communication when assisting stakeholders, and particularly as a liaison between the College, peripatetic Instrumental and Vocal Teachers and families.</li> <li>Attend departmental staff meetings as required.</li> <li>Complete administrative tasks or other duties as directed by the Head of Department or Headmaster.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Hours of Duty and Commencement Date</strong></p> <p>This is a full-time temporary position of 76 hours per fortnight. Hours of duty are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:06pm.
