<p><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.stmonicas.qld.edu.au/">The College</a> is situated in the central business district of Cairns, one block from the Cairns Esplanade. St Monica's is the oldest school in the region, with rich heritage and Mercy traditions. As a Catholic Secondary Day and Boarding College for young women, St Monica's is a faith community where belief in the dignity of the human person underlies our educational philosophy, structures and processes. During the last few years, the College has undertaken a significant building project to complement its two heritage buildings. Reinforcing our strong Mercy tradition all of the buildings are named after Sisters of Mercy. We are the only all-female school in the Cairns region with an enrolment of over 700 students. Year levels 7 to 12 are offered, with both day and boarding options.</p>

<p>About the Role</p>
<p>A new position exists at St Monica's College for a Teacher of Diversity. </p>
<p>Student diversity is valued and inclusive practices are fundamental to the ethos of Catholic schools. The Teacher of Diversity works within whole-school initiatives to address the needs of students through a culture of inclusiveness and focuses on the holistic growth and development of each student. They contribute to the quality of educational outcomes of the Catholic school by providing effective assistance to teachers in supporting students with diverse learning needs.</p>
<p>The Teacher of Diversity has a primary role in supporting students with a disability and/or who are EALD and the successful applicant will have experience in this area. </p>
<p>They will work closely with teachers to plan and implement teaching strategies and programs that identify and respond to the individual needs of students. They will communicate with parents as key partners in the educational outcomes of students and liaise with visiting specialists, including Therapists and Inclusive Education Teachers to support student learning. </p>
<p>The Teacher of Diversity reports to the Assistant Principal Curriculum, Principal or other delegated Line Manager, and works in consultation with and under the direction of the Line Manager who will oversee their role and responsibilities.</p>
<p>The Teacher of Diversity is supported by Catholic Education Services (CES)to enhance school capacity in diverse learning. They will be expected to attend regular Professional Development sessions provided by CES and continue to develop their own skills in the Diverse Learning area.</p>
