<p>The role of the <strong>Language Assistant</strong> is to support the teaching of Languages other than English. The position will work closely with, and at the direction of, Language Teachers to broaden the students’ language skills, develop their oral and written expression, foster cultural appreciation, and enrich their overall learning experience.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Assistance in the classroom with the facilitation of verbal and written activities in the Italian language.</li> <li>Support the senior Language students with conversation practice in preparation for internal oral assessment tasks and external oral examinations.</li> <li>Advising on contemporary Italian culture that can be incorporated into curriculum and classroom practice.</li> <li>One-on-one sessions with senior students to support and evaluate their reading, writing, listening and speaking of the Italian Language</li> <li>Work closely with the Language Teachers in support of students’ language progress and development.</li> <li>Provide Language Teachers with feedback on students’ achievements during individual sessions.</li> <li>Assist the Language Teachers in creating classroom resources for teaching and learning.</li> <li>Research and create different resources (grammar, reading, listening and multi-text) for VCE topics.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p>Experience &amp; Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A native speaker of the Italian language.</li> <li>Familiarity with the VCE Italian Study Design and Assessment process</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal skills including a demonstrated ability to consult and interact with students and staff.</li> <li>Fluent communication skills in Italian (native level in speaking and writing).</li> <li>An undergraduate degree majoring in the proposed language.</li> <li>Current Employee Victorian Working with Children’s Check or Victorian Institute of Teaching registration.</li> <li>Previous classroom experience as a Language Assistant.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Interested?</strong></p> <p>To apply, please visit the College website www.sbc.vic.edu.au/about-us/employment-opportunities to submit your CV and Cover letter.</p> <p>Applications close at <strong>4:00 pm on Friday, 27 February 2026.</strong><br> &nbsp;</p> <p><i>The College promotes the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children and young people.</i></p>
