The Acting Deputy Principal works collaboratively with the Principal and other members of the school leadership team to provide strategic and operational leadership in the following areas: Catholic Identity, Leadership, Teaching & Learning, Pastoral Care & Wellbeing, Community and Culture and Finance, Facilities and Resources.
<p><strong>The School:</strong></p>
<p>Murrupurtiyanuwu Catholic Primary School is a well-established co-educational Catholic school located at Wurrumiyanga on Bathurst Island. It has an enrolment of 204 predominantly Tiwi students from early childhood to year six. You will be supporting a culturally rich community of learners with dedicated and committed teachers and indigenous assistant teachers focused on delivering a high quality faith based education.</p>

<p><strong>The Position:</strong></p>
<p>The Acting Deputy Principal is a senior leadership position within a Catholic school. The role requires a person of faith and vision for Catholic education who models Catholic values and is able to communicate this vision clearly within the school community.</p>
<p>Working closely with the Principal, the Deputy Principal provides leadership to ensure the effective operation of all aspects of school life, supporting curriculum implementation, staff development, pastoral care and positive community relationships.</p>
<p>This is a full-time fixed-term position, commencing 13 April 2026 to 19 June 2026.</p>

<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<p>The Acting Deputy Principal will:</p>
<ul>
<li>Provide leadership in creating and sustaining a strong Catholic climate and supporting the implementation of the school’s vision.</li>
<li>Support the effective operation of the school, including deputising for the Principal as required.</li>
<li>Lead and support curriculum planning, implementation, evaluation and student assessment in line with the School Improvement Plan.</li>
<li>Assist in the planning, development and evaluation of staff development and formation programs.</li>
<li>Support the pastoral care and wellbeing of students and staff, contributing to positive staff morale.</li>
<li>Promote effective two-way communication and build positive relationships with families, parish and the wider community.</li>
<li>Undertake designated administrative responsibilities and other duties as directed by the Principal.</li>
<li>Work closely with the Principal, Catholic Aboriginal Leadership Team (CALT), and Leadership Team to support the school’s strategic directions.</li>

<p><strong>Essential Criteria:</strong></p>
<p>The successful applicant will:</p>
<ul>
<li>Be a Catholic and an active member of a Catholic Eucharistic community.</li>
<li>(or, where circumstances warrant, a person of faith committed to Catholic values and participation in Catholic worship).</li>
<li>Demonstrate a personal commitment to Catholic education and the mission and values of the Church.</li>
<li>Hold postgraduate qualifications, or be willing to commence studies, in Religious Education, Theology and/or Educational Leadership.</li>
<li>Be registered or eligible for registration with the NT Teacher Registration Board.</li>
<li>Hold, or be eligible to obtain, a current NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).</li>
<li>Demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills appropriate to a senior school leadership role.</li>
