<p>Job Description</p>
<p><strong>About the role:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Part-time hours (worked over 2 or 3 days per week)</li>
<li>Maximum term contract for 2026.</li>
</ul>
<p>We seek self-motivated candidates who possess good communication skills, & can work unsupervised as well as part of a team. Undertake maintenance and repair work to the school buildings and grounds to ensure a safe environment for the school community.</p>

<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Ensure building systems and machines run smoothly e.g. air conditioning, pumps</li>
<li>Undertake repair/maintenance work as required to school buildings e.g. replacing locks, windows & light bulbs, patching holes, woodwork repairs</li>
<li>Perform routine maintenance of equipment</li>
<li>Estimate repair costs and document repairs undertaken</li>
<li>Handle, store, and distribute goods/materials</li>
<li>Move equipment/furniture as required</li>
<li>Upkeep school grounds e.g. mowing, pruning, weeding, planting, disposing of litter</li>
<li>Assist with school improvements e.g. fencing, paving, gardening projects</li>
<li>Complete daily grounds maintenance reports</li>
<li>Train new employees in groundskeeping duties</li>
<li>Drive school vehicles as required.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>About the School:</strong></p>
<p>Aspect Hunter School provides placement for approximately 270 students on the autism spectrum from Kindergarten to year 12 at its main school at Thornton, and across its satellite classes within the Catholic and Department of Education schools in Newcastle, Hunter and Port Macquarie regions. Aspect Hunter School also offers a Distance Education program for students on the autism spectrum in years 3 to 8 from across NSW.</p>

<p>Qualifications</p>
<p><strong>What we are looking for:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience in general maintenance of grounds/buildings</li>
<li>Knowledge of electrical, plumbing and general trade maintenance</li>
<li>Understanding of machinery/equipment operation relating to building maintenance</li>
<li>Ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills</li>
<li>Trade certification and background is desirable</li>
<li>Current driver’s licence and use of own vehicle</li>
<li>Current NSW Working with Children Check for paid employment </li>
<li>You may be required to provide an International Police Check clearance.</li>
