We strive to create an inclusive environment where every student is known, valued and supported to reach their full potential.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><u>About the Role:</u></strong></p> <p><strong>Teacher Assistant – Specialising in MDT.&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>Ongoing, Term Time Only&nbsp;</strong></p> <p>In this role, you will actively support teachers and students in practical workshop environments and contribute to the safe and effective delivery of hands-on learning experiences.</p> <ul> <li>Assist the MDT teachers in preparing materials, resources and equipment for lessons.&nbsp;</li> <li>Support students during practical activities across areas such as woodwork, metalwork, design projects, and digital technologies.&nbsp;</li> <li>Maintain safe workshop practices, including equipment checks, tool management, and compliance with WHS procedures.&nbsp;</li> <li>Help set up and pack down classroom and workshop spaces.&nbsp;</li> <li>Provide guidance and supervision to students working with machinery and hand tools.&nbsp;</li> <li>Assist with stock control, ordering materials, and general workshop organisation.&nbsp;</li> <li>Contribute positively to a supportive and inclusive learning environment.</li> </ul> <p><strong>About You</strong></p> <p>You will be a proactive and reliable team‑member who enjoys working in a practical, creative environment.</p> <p>You’ll bring:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in workshop, trades, design, or technology environments (school-based or industry).</li> <li>Confidence using hand tools, machinery, and digital technologies safely.</li> <li>Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.</li> <li>The ability to supervise and support students of varying skill levels.</li> <li>A commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful learning space.</li> <li>Current Working With Children Check and satisfactory National Police Criminal History Check (NPCHC). (or ability to obtain)</li> </ul> <p><i>Desirable:</i></p> <ul> <li>Trade qualifications/cabinet making or building experience, or previous work in an MDT or similar learning setting.</li> <li>First Aid certification.</li> </ul> <p>Catholic Education Tasmania (CET) supports the rights of children and young people and is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment directed at ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
