We're seeking a proactive and caring School Support Officer to join our Student Services team from Thursday, 26 February 2026 (or by negotiation). This is a part-time role working Thursdays and Fridays, with occasional additional days available.<br><br>
In this key front-facing position, you'll be the main contact for students, parents, and staff-supporting student wellbeing, managing records, and ensuring smooth daily operations. You'll work closely with our Support Staff, parents, and students to help maintain a positive, well-organised school environment.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>act as the main point of contact for all College students, parents, and staff, providing excellent customer service and a helpful, cooperative approach</li>
<li>provide immediate support, administer basic first aid, manage minor illnesses/injuries, and refer complex cases efficiently and professionally to the Wellbeing team (Instructional Leader: Wellbeing, Counsellor, Assistant Principal, or College Principal)</li>
<li>monitor student attendance, follow up on absences, process leave requests, and communicate effectively with parents/guardians</li>
<li>maintain and update student data and information accurately within the Compass system</li>
<li>maintain accurate student records (personal, medical, attendance), assist with enrolments, and manage general office duties</li>
<li>support the coordination of school excursions, events, and student leadership initiatives, including managing notifications via Compass and preparing first aid kits/medical requirements for off-site activities and sport</li>
<li>offer empathetic and confidential support to students, referring complex issues to appropriate pastoral care staff (e.g., School Counsellor, Head of Wellbeing, Year Level Coordinator).</li>

<p><strong>Essential Criteria</strong><br><br>
As a School Support Officer (Level 4), you will be an integral member of the school community, you will demonstrate St Mary's Cathedral College Sydney's values and professional standards in interacting with students, staff, parents and the community. You must be able to demonstrate:</p>
<ul>
<li>proven experience in administration or professional support, ideally in a fast-paced setting</li>
<li>exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills</li>
<li>empathetic, patient, and able to maintain strict confidentiality when dealing with students and sensitive information</li>
<li>proactive, problem-solver, and a collaborative team player aligned with school values</li>
<li>highly organised with strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and work to deadlines</li>
<li>ability to work autonomously with minimal direction</li>
<li>competent and confident in using a variety of software programs including Google platform, microsoft excel, and MS Office, experience with Compass is desirable but not essential.</li>
