<p><strong>ABOUT THE ROLE</strong></p>
<p>The purpose of the EAL/D (English as an Additional Language/ Dialect) Teaching Assistant is to support the teacher in meeting the learning needs of the students in their class whilst participating as required in the lesson. The Teaching Assistant will work pro-actively work with classroom teachers to foster inclusive classrooms, enhance students’ language acquisition and help EAL/D students develop confidence in both academic and social contexts.</p>

<p><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p>
<ul>
<li> Provide targeted support to EAL/D students in mainstream classrooms and/ or small group settings</li>
<li> Assist EAL/D students in developing English proficiency across the modes of reading, writing, speaking and listening</li>
<li> Work collaboratively with class teachers to develop programs, practices and resources which support the English language and literacy learning of EAL/D students across curriculum areas</li>
<li> Assist the Director of EAL/D and International Students in monitoring and recording progress of EAL/D students’ English language learning progress with reference to ACARA’s EAL/D Learning Progression</li>
<li> Provide extraction of small groups of students as directed by subject teacher to provide differentiated teaching in line with whole class lesson objectives</li>
<li> Cover whole class for supervision on occasions as requested by subject teachers or Head of DL<strong> </strong></li>
</ul>
<p><strong>ABOUT YOU</strong></p>
<ul>
<li> Demonstrated experience supporting students with English as an Additional Language/ Dialect learning needs</li>
<li> Knowledge of a range of strategies to support students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds</li>
<li> Ability to assist teachers in adapting lesson material to meet diverse language needs</li>
<li> Ability to speak Mandarin and/or Cantonese would be desirable</li>
<li> Certificate IV in Education Support or Qualified Teacher or relevant experience would be desirable</li>
