<p><strong>About the Role</strong></p>
<p>As a member of the school's Religious Education team, the Assistant Religious Education Coordinator(REC) (1 point) will play a key role in the development and implementation of Religious Education programs across the school, promoting Evangelisation initiatives, in building a thriving Catholic community. This position requires an outstanding educator with a well-developed capacity to take forward the evangelising mission of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Sydney.</p>
<p>The Youth Ministry Coordinator (YMC) (1 point) has been established to help take forward the Catholic life of the school by further strengthening the partnership between the school and local parishes and for engaging young people into responsible participation in life, mission, work and the Catholic faith community through a range of initiatives and activities. The Youth Ministry Coordinator will also give leadership to the promotion of and preparation of events such as World Youth, the Australian Catholic Youth Festival, Ignite Conference and SCS Evangelisation Days. The Youth Ministry Coordinator will also form an important role within the Religious Education team as an effective teacher and contributor to the Evangelisation programs and promoting the Religious Dimension of the school. This role will enable the building of a specialised Religious Education team.</p>
<p>To be successful for the Assistant REC role, you must demonstrate proven experience in:</p>
<ul>
<li>creating a faith community that brings the Gospel and teachings of the Catholic Church to all the students, families and staff</li>
<li>creating a contemporary, student-centred learning culture</li>
<li>initiating and leading change and improvement to enhance learning for all students, especially in Religious Education</li>
<li>working strategically, with an understanding of the school within the broader educational, ecclesial and community context</li>
<li>developing collaborative partnerships to support student and staff faith journey, learning and well-being, especially in the context of evangelisation.</li>
</ul>
<p>To be successful for the Youth Ministry Coordinator role, you must demonstrate:</p>
<ul>
<li>strong and active commitment to the practice of the Catholic Faith, with a well-developed understanding of the evangelising and catechising mission of the Catholic Church</li>
<li>experience and skills in engaging young people into the diverse works of the Catholic Church</li>
<li>an understanding of the emerging approaches to youth ministry and evangelisation</li>
<li>commitment to and passion for events such as World Youth, the Australian Catholic Youth Festival, Ignite Conference, as pilgrimages of faith for young people</li>
<li>commitment to participate in and contribute to a formation program facilitated by Sydney Catholic Schools</li>
<li>highly developed interpersonal and communication skills</li>
<li>group and teamwork facilitation skills</li>
<li>capacity to foster and strengthen relationships between the school and parish communities</li>
<li>excellent time management, organisational and administrative skills.</li>
</ul>
<p>The successful candidate will also possess the following:</p>
<ul>
<li>completed, or has evidence of, study toward a Graduate Diploma or Master of Religious Education or Theology (desirable)</li>
<li><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://sydcatholicschools.nsw.edu.au/policies/accreditation-policy-to-work-teach-and-lead-in-sydney-catholic-schools">Category D</a> Accreditation in accordance with To Work, Teach and Lead in systemic Catholic schools Archdiocese of Sydney Accreditation. Category E Accreditation desirable</li>
<li>is a Baptised Catholic with demonstrated evidence of ongoing commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church and engagement in the life of a Catholic faith community such as a parish or an established community within the Catholic Church, as an expression of your relationship with Jesus Christ</li>
<li>ability to demonstrate the standard descriptors at Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher Level in accordance with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers</li>
<li>postgraduate units of study in Leadership (advantageous).</li>
</ul>
