An exciting opportunity to join the Mackillop team as our Safety Officer.

We’re searching for a Risk &amp; Safety Officer who can help oversee all things WHS and Compliance and build simple, practical systems that keep our college safe and ready. This role is essential in maintaining strong compliance systems and supporting a proactive safety culture.</p> <p><strong>About the role.</strong></p> <p>Reporting to the Business Manager, you will coordinate the College’s Work Health &amp; Safety portfolio. This is a hands-on role where you will:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee WHS compliance activities, including audits, inspections, and reporting.</li> <li>Maintain accurate records of incidents, hazards, and risk assessments.</li> <li>Support the implementation of WHS policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks.</li> <li>Assist with emergency preparedness and response planning.</li> <li>Provide practical guidance and support to staff on WHS processes and obligations.</li> <li>Promote a proactive safety culture across the College.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;<strong>About you.</strong></p> <p>You’ll bring:</p> <ul> <li>Proven experience in WHS and compliance. Certificate IV in WHS advantageous.</li> <li>Strong organisational and administrative skills, with excellent attention to detail.</li> <li>Strength in auditing, incident investigation, risk assessment, and closing actions</li> <li>Clear, confident communication, with the ability to build positive and supportive relationships.</li> <li>High level of discretion, professionalism and a strong commitment to confidentiality.</li> <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive and supportive relationships.</li> <li>Confidence with common WHS systems/tools and MS Office/Google Workspace.</li> <li>A collaborative, team‑focused approach and a commitment to the values of Catholic Education.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;<strong>About us.</strong></p> <p>MacKillop Catholic College is a Catholic Secondary College on Hobart’s Eastern Shore.
