The College has experienced unprecedented enrolment growth in response to our transition to a K-12, co-educational, dual campus College.<br><br><strong>About You</strong><br><br> An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced maintenance person to join the St Mary's Cathedral College team, to undertake general and maintenance work to ensure a clean, orderly and safe environment that enables enhanced student learning outcomes. This is an ongoing position 5-days per week (8:30am - 3:00pm), commencing in Term 1, 2026.<br><br> Your responsibilities will include:</p> <ul> <li>non-specialised repair work</li> <li>coordinating daily building and grounds maintenance and cleaning tasks, such as rubbish removal on pathways, in playgrounds and ovals, servicing of gates and doors etc</li> <li>carrying out garden maintenance - upkeep of grounds, landscaping and gardens, lawns, gutter cleaning as necessary</li> <li>responding to alarms, following emergency procedures, inspecting and securing buildings</li> <li>providing assistance to qualified tradespersons in building and furniture maintenance</li> <li>ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with Work Health and Safety legislation and the College's own WH&amp;S guidelines</li> <li>assisting with setting up of special events and functions around the school, e.g. sports and open days</li> <li>undertaking any other duties as requested by the Principal, Business Manager, and/or Principal's Delegate.</li> </ul> <p>It is essential that you:</p> <ul> <li>have experience as a maintenance person in a school or similar environment and in the use of all grounds maintenance equipment</li> <li>have demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team</li> <li>have demonstrated ability to follow direction, prioritise and meet set deadlines</li> <li>have demonstrated interpersonal skills in working with a range of personnel</li> <li>provide a safe, secure and caring environment for all students and staff and show a strong personal commitment to the Catholic ethos and Mission of the College.</li> </ul> <p>Experience and Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>qualifications in relevant trade desirable but not essential, but has a skill level which assumes and requires knowledge, training or experience relevant to the duties to be performed</li> <li>previous experience in a school environment is desired but not essential.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Application Process</strong><br><br> Click 'Apply' to submit your application, including:</p> <ul> <li>current CV and cover letter</li> <li>three referees, including your current employer/principal (where applicable) and your last principal.</li> </ul> <p>Any offer of employment with Sydney Catholic Schools is subject to screening completed by the Central Office People &amp; Culture Services team.<br><br> If you encounter technical issues or for any general enquiries please contact the People &amp; Culture Services team on (02) 9568 8297 (8am-5pm, Mon-Fri).<br><br><strong>Statement of Commitment to Child Safety&nbsp;</strong><br><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/12NXlXECGafjFW1YktzO9pufOa_ypn22x/view"><strong>Click here</strong></a> to access SCS' Statement of Commitment to Child Safety and join us in creating a culture of child safety and wellbeing.<br><br><strong>Working With Children Check (WWCC)&nbsp;</strong><br> This role is classified as child-related work and therefore requires a WWCC clearance prior to commencement of employment.<br><br><i>SCS welcomes and encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and candidates with diverse backgrounds.</i></p>
