Come work with us! -

About the Role

The Arts at St. Anthony’s Primary School is an essential and vital learning area that enables the full flourishing of every student, spiritually, academically, and personally. Through active participation in The Arts, students are encouraged to explore the creative gifts they’ve been given to express themselves, interpret the world, and make unique meaning.

Inspired by our Catholic faith, this subject is a place of wonder and discovery, where students explore the beauty of creation, celebrate the sacred, and learn to respond with integrity and compassion. The Arts provides the opportunity for students to explore personal and community wellbeing, prayer and formation. A sentiment expressed by Pope John Paul II in his Letter to Artists (1999) encourages such exploration: ‘Artists of the world, may your many different paths lead to that Ocean of beauty where wonder becomes awe, exhilaration, unspeakable joy’ (n. 16).

Through engaging with the five Art disciplines of Visual Art, Media Art, Dance, Music, and Drama, students learn to respect and value the evolving traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, recognising their significant contributions to Australia’s arts heritage and contemporary practice (VCAA, 2017).

At St. Anthony’s Primary School, the Arts curriculum is structured into two semester-long subjects: Visual Art (Visual Art and Media Art) and Performing Art (Dance, Drama and Music). Students are given opportunities to share their stories, express their faith, and explore the beauty of the world around them through our School Concert and Arts Exhibition.

At St Anthony’s Primary School, the Arts teacher leads our Arts Specialist Program, a dynamic and collaborative curriculum designed to spark creativity. It aims to empower students to become confident communicators and critical thinkers who use artistic expression to explore, question, and understand the world around them.

This role requires a strong commitment to an arts program fundamentally shaped by our Catholic Identity. The Arts teacher will be key in aligning artistic knowledge and skills with the Catholic belief in the inherent dignity of the human person, fostering the artist's vocation to reflect truth, beauty, and goodness in their work. We seek a passionate educator who inspires students to use their creative gifts to explore the beauty of creation, celebrate the sacred, and learn to respond with integrity and compassion.

Aligned with MACS Vision for Instruction and Vision for Engagement, the role delivers a rich, connected curriculum that also fosters deep learning, critical thinking, creativity, and student agency. Drawing on disciplines such as Dance, Drama, Music, Visual Art, and Media Arts, the program combines explicit instruction with experiential learning.

This role also supports the school’s Catholic identity by modelling Catholic Social Teaching particularly care for creation, dignity of work, and the common good.
