<p><strong>Laboratory Technician</strong><br><strong>Part Time</strong></p> <p>Damascus College is seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Science Laboratory Technician to support the delivery of high-quality science teaching and learning across our Science Learning Area.</p> <p>Working closely with the Learning Area Leader – Science and the wider Science team, this role plays a vital part in ensuring safe, engaging and well-prepared practical learning experiences for students.</p> <p>The Science Laboratory Technician is responsible for the preparation, maintenance and coordination of materials, equipment and resources required for science classes, while ensuring compliance with relevant safety guidelines and standards.</p> <p>Key responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Preparing materials, stock, solutions, specimens and apparatus for practical classes and demonstrations.</li> <li>Keeping laboratory spaces organised, safe and ready for learning.</li> <li>Ensure chemicals and equipment are labelled and stored according to safety standards.</li> <li>Ensure students follow safety procedures and use required PPE.</li> <li>Conduct Risk Assessments for preparation tasks and assist teachers with classroom risk assessments.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Key Selection Criteria</strong></p> <ul> <li>Post-secondary qualifications in science and/or Laboratory Technician qualifications.</li> <li>Experience in a school or analytical laboratory, including the application of technical/scientific processes.</li> <li>Strong understanding of Work Health and Safety practices, risk assessments and safety standards in a science environment.</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently, take initiative, and manage competing deadlines.</li> <li>Experience using ICT systems for inventory management, purchasing and risk assessment (e.g., RiskAssess).</li> <li>Commitment to the ethos of Damascus College as a Catholic school in the Mercy tradition.</li> </ul> <p>Preferred applicants must have the right to work in Australia, have a valid Working with Children Check and National Police Check.</p> <p>Why Join Us</p> <ul> <li>Be part of a supportive, dedicated, and values-driven team.</li> <li>Enjoy the benefits of an active Staff Association with regular social events and activities.</li> <li>Access confidential counselling and wellbeing support through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP).</li> <li>Work in a collaborative environment that values professionalism, respect, and personal growth.</li> </ul> <p>For an application to be considered, applicants will be expected to provide and complete:</p> <p>(1) a Cover Letter</p> <p>(2) a Key Selection Statement (please refer to the position description for the full list of key selection criteria)</p> <p>(3) a detailed resume and</p> <p>(4) a completed College Application Form</p> <p>For a confidential, no-obligation conversation contact the People &amp; Culture Team on (03) 5337 2222.</p> <p><strong>Applications close 9am Wednesday 10th December 2025.</strong></p> <p>Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for an interview.</p> <p><i>Damascus College is committed to the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children and young people.
