O’Connor Catholic College is a co-educational high school, from Years 7-12 which began in 1975 with the amalgamation of two of Armidale’s longest established schools; St Ursula’s College and De La Salle College. With a population of around 550 students, O’Connor is committed to the vision of being a faith-filled community working collaboratively to enhance the learning for all students.

<p><strong>Position Purpose</strong></p> <p>The&nbsp;role of the Teacher Librarian is to manage the school library&nbsp;and&nbsp;information&nbsp;services of the school. The Teacher Librarian works in collaboration with teachers to achieve desired outcomes in five interrelated areas:</p> <ul> <li>Learners and learning;</li> <li>Teachers and teaching;</li> <li>Resourcing and curriculum;</li> <li>Facilitating access to information and information literacy;</li> <li>Developing the physical environment.&nbsp;<br> &nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Commencement</strong></p> <p>The commencement date for this position will be the first day of the 2026 school year.</p> <p><strong>Selection criteria&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>Essential criteria</strong></p> <ul> <li>Appropriate teaching qualifications and current NESA registration.</li> <li>Teacher librarianship experience, and/or relevant qualifications in librarianship, and/or willingness to undertake relevant studies in school librarianship to build capacity.&nbsp;</li> <li>Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary pedagogies, including flexible learning spaces and team teaching.</li> <li>Demonstrated knowledge of&nbsp; information and communication technologies.</li> <li>Demonstrate knowledge of ICT tools for Primary Students: Graphics, Animation, Digital videos, Programmable toys- Coding.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to support continual development of information literacy for staff and students, with the intention of building lifelong learners.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to work effectively across a range of teams to support their collaborative goals in alignment with the school plan.</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the capacity to develop productive and caring relationships with students, parents and staff where the focus is on the learning and well-being of the student.</li> <li>Ability to manage contemporary library spaces to accommodate a range of purposes and audiences, such as student wellbeing, study groups, staff learning teams, literacy enrichment activities.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to develop innovative programs to engage students in a love of reading.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Desirable criteria</strong></p> <ul> <li>Meet the criteria and be willing to teach Religious Education in the Diocese of Armidale in accordance with<a href="https://arm.catholic.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Framework-for-the-Accreditation-of-Staff-in-Catholic-Schools.pdf" rel="nofollow">&nbsp;<u>Framework for the Accreditation of Staff in Catholic Schools</u></a>.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Application</strong></p> <p>For questions regarding the professional nature of this position, please contact Phillip Gibney, Principal on (02) 6772 1666.</p> <p>Before submitting your application, please ensure the following:</p> <ul> <li>You have carefully read the position description and ensure you understand the role you are applying for and that it is suited to your skills, experience and qualifications.&nbsp;</li> <li><strong>Complete the relevant online application form</strong> by<a href="https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BHJJ3GC" rel="nofollow"><strong><u> clicking here</u></strong><u>&nbsp;</u></a>and attach a cover letter (optional) and CV that clearly outlines your qualifications and career history.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><i>Preferred applicants must have the right to work in Australia and will be subject to employment screening.</i></p>
