Amity College is seeking a qualified and experienced High School Learning Support Teacher for its Shellharbour Campus.
<p>Amity College is seeking a qualified and experienced <strong>High School</strong> <strong>Learning Support Teacher </strong>for its Shellharbour Campus.</p>
<p>The role will have a particular focus on the successful inclusion of children with disabilities or learning difficulties. This will involve the development and maintenance of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and working closely with classroom teachers, parents, school counsellors, and external specialists. </p>
<p><strong>This is a full-time position commencing in Term 1, 2026.</strong></p>
<p>The Learning Support Teacher will:</p>
<ul>
<li>Work collaboratively with the school management, subject teachers and school counsellor to support learning of students with additional educational needs and identify specific learning and support needs.</li>
<li>Plan, implement, model, monitor and evaluate teaching programs for students with additional learning and support needs in conjunction with regular subject teachers.</li>
<li>Plan, implement, model, monitor and evaluate personalised adjustments for learning where required, with the subject teacher, student and/or parent or carer.</li>
<li>Model exemplary classroom practice when tailoring adjusted learning programs for students with additional learning needs.</li>
<li>Provide direct support for students with additional learning and support needs through a range of strategies (including direct instruction, delivery of adjusted learning programs, assessment, and monitoring of progress) including the areas of social integration, language, and communication, literacy, numeracy, and behaviour. This may include students with confirmed disabilities.</li>
<li>Provide professional specialist advice, support, and mentoring to subject teachers on: </li>
</ul>
<p>- how best to cater to the diverse learning needs in their classrooms, and </p>
<p>- how to effectively work in partnership with families to maximise learning opportunities for students at school and at home</p>
<ul>
<li>Identify and monitor students with learning difficulties via standardised testing and consultation with external specialists.</li>
<li>Contribute to the collection of data and moderation process for the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).</li>
<li>Contribute to the HSC Disability Provisions application process by identifying applicants and compiling the relevant evidence for HSC Disability Provisions applications. </li>
<li>Attend parent meetings, parent/teacher interviews, and school meetings as required.</li>
<li>Refer students to the school counsellor or external agencies as required.</li>
</ul>
<p>All applicants must meet the following criteria:</p>

<li>Hold relevant <strong>University Qualification in Special and Inclusive Education</strong>.</li>
<li>Must have special education needs and learning support experience.</li>
<li>Have a talent for gaining strong rapport with students, parents,and colleagues.</li>
<li>Be registered or be eligible for the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) accreditation.</li>
<li>Be registered or be eligible for the NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC) registration.</li>
