The position of Head of House is responsible to the Director of Pastoral Care for the care, discipline, guidance and participation of students within their House, in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, values and policies of MacKillop Catholic College.

Our college community is built on strong values, and we strive to create an inclusive environment where all students are encouraged to reach their full potential.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;In 2023, we introduced Grades 11 and 12, and our student numbers continue to grow into 2026. To support this growth, we are seeking a passionate and experienced <strong>Head of House </strong>to join our leadership team and play a key role in fostering student wellbeing and engagement.</p> <p><strong>About the role:</strong></p> <p>Heads of House deliver quality Pastoral Care to students based on our vision statement of excellence, compassion and service. Heads of House work with staff to ensure that students are known, cared for with continuity and have maximum opportunities to actively and positively participate within the College community.</p> <ul> <li>Provide ongoing wellbeing and pastoral support for all students within your House.</li> <li>Be responsible to the Director of Pastoral Care for the care, discipline, guidance, and participation of students within your House.</li> <li>Deliver quality Pastoral Care aligned with the College’s vision of excellence, compassion, and service.</li> <li>Mentor student leaders and foster a positive, inclusive culture.</li> <li>Collaborate with staff and families to ensure every student is known, supported, and actively engaged in college life.</li> <li>Support Pastoral Care Teachers in the organisation and conduct of House-based groups, including behaviour management protocols and attendance monitoring.</li> <li>Promote and model the College’s commitment to restorative practices.</li> <li>Coordinate and support House activities, including assemblies, events, and celebrations that build community spirit.</li> <li>Maintain accurate wellbeing records in SEQTA, ensuring compliance with College protocols.</li> <li>Be a visible presence around the College to build positive connections with students.</li> </ul> <p><strong>About you:</strong></p> <p>You are an experienced educator with proven leadership capability and a passion for student wellbeing and pastoral care. You bring:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated experience in pastoral care leadership and supporting student wellbeing.</li> <li>High-level ability to be a proactive problem solver and decision maker.</li> <li>Strong ability to mentor and guide student leaders, collaborate effectively with staff, and develop capacity in others through coaching and mentoring.</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal skills with parents, students, and staff.</li> <li>Proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment to plan and implement effective teaching and learning.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to drive and lead change to build a culture of continuous improvement.</li> <li>Excellent organisational and time management skills.</li> <li>Exceptional personal standards of honesty, integrity, and professionalism, remaining calm under pressure.</li> <li>Teaching qualifications and registration with the Teachers Registration Board of Tasmania.</li> </ul> <p>Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in accordance with the Tasmanian Catholic Education Single Enterprise Agreement 2024.</p> <p>Catholic Education Tasmania (CET) supports the rights of children and young people and is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment directed at ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
