As Science Education Adviser – Team Lead at Stile, you’ll drive the vision of our science teaching and learning resources in Australia and the US.

From lab‑grown meat to the gut‑brain axis, renewable energy to feeding colonies on Mars, Stile is helping teachers (a.k.a. superheroes) prepare our young people for the world they’re living in.

We’re on a mission to build the best science curriculum in the known universe. We want students equipped with the critical‑thinking skills and problem‑solving tools needed to tackle the big issues of today, and tomorrow.

Today, more than 1‑in‑3 Australian secondary schools teach with our science curriculum. Tomorrow, the same will be true in the USA. It’s widely loved.

But we’re only just getting started, and we need your help!

As Science Education Adviser – Team Lead at Stile, you’ll drive the vision of our science teaching and learning resources in Australia and the US. You’ll be creating the end‑to‑end curriculum of your dreams—from the scope and sequence to every lab, video, question and assessment. To bring this vision to life, you’ll lead a team of incredibly talented designers, illustrators, scientists, writers, editors, educators and engineers to create resources that will inspire and challenge young minds.

We’re looking for someone who lives and breathes STEM education. Someone who delights in crafting innovative ways to engage students in real‑world issues. Someone who is passionate about improving the standard of education available to students around the world.

Why you’re going to love it

Changes you make have an impact on a national, and increasingly global, scale. Half of Australia’s 7‑10 students use the curriculum you’re crafting and refining.

We invest millions of dollars every year into the development of our science curriculum. We are not aware of anyone else investing to this level, or even close.

Colleagues worth working with. You’ll join an amazing 70‑strong team of teachers, scientists, artists and engineers, including Australia’s former chief scientist. Imagine a workplace where everyone genuinely cares about—and is working towards—improving scientific literacy amongst our young citizens. We hold ourselves and each other to a high standard and love what we do.

Work on something that really matters. In partnership with teachers, we’re coaching students to become problem solvers and critical thinkers. The internet democratised information. We believe that, with a strong command of science, tomorrow’s citizens and leaders have a fighting chance of sorting the misinformation from the facts.

Spend time in classrooms, working with teachers and students to refine your resources. So far this year the Stile team has taught well in excess of 100 classes, and observed hundreds more. Expect to teach and demonstrate the lessons you’ve created alongside your colleagues. Expect to attend major science conferences. No ivory towers here.

How you’ll spend your time

You’ll work side‑by‑side with our ‘dream team’ of other teachers, simulation designers, illustrators, animators and editors to make the best science resource in the known universe. This role will vary from day to day. It will always be interesting but might include:

Maintaining and refining Stile’s recommended scope and sequence for all our supported markets in Australia and the US.

Finding innovative ways to take the best aspects of the Australian and International science curricula and bringing them together to create phenomena-driven units of work that will engage teachers and students around the world.

Lead ongoing research into international science education systems to identify emerging best practice and evidence‑based pedagogy.

Design, document and evaluate specialist digital learning materials, professional‑learning workshops and teacher‑certification pathways that resolve immediate classroom needs.

Collaborate with teachers, curriculum authorities and school leaders to determine areas of research focus and help implement new policies.

Maintain impact‑measurement dashboards and publish quarterly reports on course effectiveness, uptake and learning‑growth metrics.

Advise teachers and school leadership on adopting digital authoring tools, AI tools, LMS platforms and emerging STEM technologies, providing hands‑on training where needed.

Building and maintaining an advisory board of the best science educators across the globe.

Visit classrooms and conferences in Australia and the US to pilot lessons, collect feedback and model best‑practice teaching.

A bit more about you

We think this job would best suit someone who has previously been a Director of Curriculum, Education Adviser, Instructional Designer or has held other school leadership roles with a pedagogy and curriculum focus. Having said that, we’re really open to hearing from a wide range of candidates.

You have a strong STEM background. Having a specialisation in digital education or educational technology is advantageous. You naturally like to keep abreast of scientific and technological advancements.

Demonstrated record of curriculum and program design and development. Familiarity with the NGSS is a bonus.

Proven ability to research, pilot and evaluate innovative instructional strategies, publishing data‑driven recommendations.

Hands‑on expertise with digital authoring & analytics tools for prototyping and evidence gathering.

Track record of mentoring writers/educators and delivering large‑scale teacher professional‑learning programs.

Knack for finding innovative and creative ways to present topics in the classroom.

Strong understanding of evidence‑based pedagogies and experience deploying those in the classroom.

Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to a younger audience.

You love working in a fast‑paced environment and you’re super eager to learn—feedback is fuel!

Note: you need not be a science teacher, though it’s clearly advantageous. We’d love to chat to people with a range of backgrounds.

Hours and location

This is a full‑time, permanent role with some flexible work hours. While we think collaboration in an office environment is an important part of building the best possible resources, we also appreciate that working from home or away from the office both offers time to really concentrate and the flexibility needed in modern life. Need to pick up the kids? No worries—we’re all about what you achieve, not the hours of the day that you achieve it. Our (awesome) office is located on Exhibition Street in Melbourne CBD.

Sound interesting?

Great! We want to know more about you, so click Apply, and provide the following to show you’re great at following the details.

A cover letter addressed to Toni Cox (no more than a page) explaining why you would smash this role out of the park. Include a paragraph on which Behaviours of an Effective Stile‑ist most resonate with you—or which you disagree with—and why.

Your resume.

Got questions about our hiring process? You can find the answers here. We can’t wait to hear from you!

Applications close at 9am on Monday 22 December.

This role is classified under ANZSCO 259331 Education Adviser (Skill Level 1) for Temporary Skill Shortage (subclass 482) visa nomination purposes.
