Good Shepherd Catholic Primary is a co-educational K-6 school located 5 minutes from the M7 (Prestons exit) and 10 minutes from Liverpool CBD.<br><br> As a teacher in a Specialist Support Class, you will play a pivotal role in providing a tailored education to students with complex needs. Your primary responsibility will be to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Emphasising best practices and fostering inclusion opportunities will be integral to your role.<br><br><strong>About You</strong><br><br> This position leads the Specialist Support Classes (SSC) within their nominated school and is responsible for its operational effectiveness. The Coordinator undertakes oversight and coaching of SSC staff, coordination of the teaching and learning of SSC students and ensuring the appropriate integration of SSC students into school activities.<br><br> This position is a middle leadership role which will see the incumbent teaching in the SSC setting and released to perform their Coordinator duties. This is a 3-point promotional role, temporary for up to 3 years, however your Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) teaching position will be full-time and permanent.&nbsp;<br><br> Success in this position will be supported by the following skills, qualities, and abilities:</p> <ul> <li>providing effective leadership and supervision to staff, including identifying professional development and support needs, managing individual and team performance, and overseeing day-to-day operational requirements</li> <li>providing recommendations to the school leadership team for improvements within the SSC and leading the implementation of SSC improvement strategies</li> <li>modelling continuous improvement approaches and strengthening a culture of high expectations centred on the needs of all students</li> <li>identifying and leading SSC specific professional learning programs and initiatives for SSC staff to enhance student outcomes</li> <li>leading Performance Development Planning (PDP) for SSC staff to support professional development aligned to school goals to support enhanced student outcomes</li> <li>overseeing all NCCD and personalised planning processes for the SSC including overseeing all aspects of the documentation of all learning and wellbeing adjustments for students in the SSC</li> <li>demonstrating a strategic approach to effectively lead improvements in teaching and learning using evidence-based research, data, curriculum, and contextual knowledge</li> <li>actively contributing to networks and related community partnerships to enhance cohesion across SSC schools</li> <li>serving as the key contact point between the SCS Central Diverse Learning team, Allied Health staff and the SSC</li> <li>seamlessly managing SSC student transitions from Primary to Secondary SSC schools</li> <li>coordinating care plans for SSC students as required</li> <li>supporting the Principal in staffing the SSC</li> <li>liaising and working with current and potential SSC parents to address SSC student needs to drive learning growth and positive student outcomes</li> <li>representing and ensuring the needs of the SSC is reflected in school strategic planning and initiatives</li> <li>undertaking risk assessments for SSC student participation in school activities</li> <li>a tertiary qualification in Education and current NESA accreditation</li> <li>a postgraduate degree or certificate in Inclusive Education or Neurodivergent studies is desirable</li> <li>Religious Education qualifications or the willingness to achieve them as per <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://sydcatholicschools.nsw.edu.au/policies/accreditation-policy-to-work-teach-and-lead-in-sydney-catholic-schools">Accreditation Policy to Work, Teach, and Lead</a>.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Why Work for Sydney Catholic Schools</strong><br><br> Joining <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://sydcatholicschools.nsw.edu.au/">Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS)</a> means being part of NSW's largest Catholic education community, with over 145 schools and 74,000 students.
