Damascus College is seeking a passionate Teacher Librarian (0.6FTE) to join our team and inspire a love of reading and learning.

Our teachers play a key role in shaping a culture that nurtures curiosity, encourages critical thinking, and instils in students the confidence to engage with the community as compassionate and responsible young people.</p> <p>The Teacher Librarian at Damascus College combines curriculum knowledge and pedagogy with library and information management skills to build a vibrant, welcoming and resource rich learning environment.</p> <p>The role involves:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborating with teachers to plan, teach and evaluate programs that integrate information literacy and digital technologies.</li> <li>Supporting students and staff in accessing, using and managing information effectively.</li> <li>Promoting reading, literature appreciation and a culture of curiosity and learning.</li> <li>Managing and maintaining library resources and systems.</li> <li>Contributing to professional learning and supporting the integration of digital learning tools across the curriculum.</li> </ul> <p>The ideal candidate will have:</p> <ul> <li>Appropriate tertiary qualifications in teaching and librarianship with current VIT registration.</li> <li>Sound understanding of inquiry-based learning and collaborative teaching practices.</li> <li>Sound knowledge of digital literacy.</li> <li>Detailed knowledge of young adult literature and ways to promote and foster a love of reading.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with students, parents and teachers to provide a supportive learning environment.</li> <li>An understanding and willingness to work within the Catholic ethos, traditions and practices.</li> <li>Demonstrated understanding of legal obligations relating to child safety, including mandatory reporting.</li> <li>Experienced in using ICT tools, including Microsoft Office, to enhance teaching across subject areas.</li> </ul> <p>If you are excited by the opportunity to inspire young people and work alongside committed, professional colleagues, we encourage you to submit your application.</p> <p>For an application to be considered, applicants will be expected to provide and complete:</p> <p>(1) a Cover Letter</p> <p>(2) a Key Selection Statement (please refer to the position description)</p> <p>(3) a detailed resume and</p> <p>(4) a completed College Application Form</p> <p>For a confidential, no-obligation conversation contact the People &amp; Culture Team on (03) 5337 2222.</p> <p><strong>Applications close 9am Monday 10th November 2025.</strong></p> <p><strong>Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for an interview.</strong></p> <p><i>Damascus College is committed to the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children and young people.
