St Joseph’s School, Elsternwick, is seeking a relational and aspirational educator to join our thriving Catholic community as Deputy Principal – Teaching and Learning. Working in partnership with the Principal and leadership team, this role leads excellence in curriculum, pedagogy and staff development through evidence-based practice and the Science of Learning. <p><strong><u>About the Role</u></strong></p>
<p>The <strong>Deputy Principal – Teaching and Learning</strong> works in close partnership with the Principal and the Deputy Principal – Administration to provide cohesive and complementary leadership across all aspects of school life.</p>
<p>This role shapes and sustains a culture of excellence in teaching and learning, grounded in high expectations, relational trust, and collective responsibility for every student’s growth and achievement. The Deputy Principal – Teaching and Learning provides strategic direction in curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and professional learning, ensuring that all students are supported to thrive.</p>

<li>Lead and model the mission, vision, and values of St Joseph’s through visible, faith-based leadership grounded in service.<br>

<li>Provide strategic leadership in curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and professional learning.<br>
</li>
<li>Drive the school’s Teaching and Learning framework, ensuring it reflects contemporary, evidence-based practice.<br>
</li>
<li>Collaborate with Curriculum and Level Leaders to design, implement, and evaluate high-impact learning programs.<br>
</li>
<li>Lead coaching and mentoring initiatives to strengthen teacher capability.<br>
</li>
<li>Oversee assessment and reporting processes to ensure data informs classroom practice and improvement.<br>
</li>
<li>Build strong, cohesive staff relationships and promote a culture of collaboration and shared accountability.<br>
</li>
<li>Support staff induction and professional growth through structured coaching and feedback.<br>
</li>
<li>Foster positive communication with families and the parish community.</li>
</ul>

<li>Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.<br>

<p><strong><u>Qualifications and Requirements</u></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Full <strong>VIT Registration</strong>.<br>
</li>
<li>Accreditation to Teach Religious Education in a Catholic school (or willingness to obtain).<br>
</li>
<li>Postgraduate qualification in Educational Leadership or equivalent (desirable).</li>
</ul>
