2026 Learning Support Officer

Sacred Heart is seeking dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Officers to join our inclusive and welcoming school community in 2026. We have both fixed-term and ongoing part-time positions available, with FTE up to 0.79 depending on the successful applicant’s availability and experience. These roles begin January 27, 2025, and concludes January 26, 2027, with potential for extension.
<p>Our LSOs play a vital role in nurturing students’ learning, wellbeing, and sense of belonging. Working alongside classroom teachers, Learning Community Leaders, and the Learning Diversity Team, LSOs support students with diverse learning needs — ensuring that every child is known, valued, and supported to flourish.</p>
<p><strong>The successful applicant will:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Support the Catholic identity and mission of Sacred Heart through participation in prayer, liturgy, and faith-filled community life</li>
<li>Assist students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities, learning difficulties, or EAL backgrounds</li>
<li>Provide respectful and discreet assistance with personal care where required</li>
<li>Contribute to the implementation of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), and NCCD processes</li>
<li>Support supervision during breaks, movement breaks, excursions, and events</li>
<li>Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with teachers, families, and the leadership team</li>
<li>Engage in professional learning to strengthen inclusive education practices</li>
<li>Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and commitment to student safety and wellbeing</li>

<ul>
<li>Demonstrates a commitment to the Catholic ethos and mission of Sacred Heart and supports the faith life of the school through prayer, liturgy, and modelling Gospel values.</li>
<li>Supports students with diverse learning, behavioural, and personal care needs with compassion, respect, and professionalism.</li>
<li>Assists in implementing Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), and NCCD adjustments under the guidance of teachers and leaders.</li>
<li>Builds trusting and positive relationships with students to promote inclusion, engagement, and wellbeing.</li>
<li>Works collaboratively and flexibly within classroom teams, following direction, maintaining confidentiality, and communicating effectively.</li>
<li>Engages in professional learning and adheres to Child Safe Standards, DOBCEL policies, and school expectations for safety, conduct, and wellbeing.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Special Requirements</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Working with Children Check (Employee) & National Police Check</li>
<li>Current First Aid, Anaphylaxis, Asthma, and Mandatory Reporting training (or willingness to obtain)</li>
<li>Experience supporting students with additional needs (desirable)</li>
<li>Commitment to the Child Safe Standards, Catholic ethos, and DOBCEL policies</li>
