Amity College is looking for a Head of Speech, Public Speaking & Debating to drive a whole-school co-curricular program that cultivates effective communication skills and inspires competitive student participation and achievement in public speaking and debating.

<p><strong>Position Overview</strong></p>

The Head of Speech, Public Speaking & Debating drives a whole-school co-curricular program that cultivates effective communication skills and inspires competitive student participation and achievement in public speaking and debating.</p>
<p>This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate professional with expertise in speech development, public speaking or debating to establish and grow a whole-school program in a diverse, motivated community, inspiring students to excel in public speaking and debating.</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Build and lead the <strong>Co-Curricular Speech Program</strong>, delivering high quality lessons that develop vocal delivery, foster confidence and eloquence in verbal communication</li>
<li>Prepare students for the Australian Speech Communication Association (ASCA) examinations</li>
<li><strong>Coach students</strong> for competitive participation in<strong> public speaking </strong>and <strong>debating competitions</strong></li>
<li><strong>Recruit and mento</strong>r speech teachers as required</li>
<li>Organise and <strong>run showcases and events for the school community</strong></li>
<li><strong>Actively promote the program</strong> across school community</li>
<li>Manage administrative tasks related to competitions and provide supervision and support when accompanying students</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Qualification or experience in speech, public speaking or debating</li>
<li>Excellent organisational and communication skills</li>
<li>A passion for and commitment to improving student outcomes in effective communication</li>
<li>Familiarity with the The Australian Speech Communication Association (ASCA) syllabuses and assessments is desirable</li>
<li>Current Working with Children Check</li>
