From 2026, Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) will expand its Specialist Support classes across the Archdiocese, strengthening our commitment to inclusive education. <br>
These classes provide personalised programs for students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, delivered in small, supportive groups using contemporary technology, state-of-the-art facilities, and high-quality resources - all within the inclusive and welcoming environment of a mainstream Catholic school community. Led by skilled educators and allied health professionals, students learn in a supportive environment while fully participating in school and parish life with their peers.<br><br>

As the support class teacher, you will be part of a team that will actively respond to the learning needs of students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities and complex needs. This work includes teaching, co-teaching, and planning aimed at developing a specialised curriculum for these students.<br><br>
We are seeking applications from candidates interested in both full-time and part-time opportunities. <br><br><strong>About You</strong><br><br>
As a Diverse Learning Teacher for the Specialist Support Class, you will work to meet the diverse needs of students to reach their full potential.<br><br>
Success in this position will be supported by the following skills, qualities, and abilities:</p>
<ul>
<li>a tertiary qualification in Education and current NESA accreditation</li>
<li>a minimum of five years of teaching experience in a school</li>
<li>quality classroom practice and highly developed skills which enhance student engagement through differentiated and individualised learning programs</li>
<li>knowledge of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) cyclic processes, including planning, implementation, validation and review of student's Personalised Plans</li>
<li>teach, co-teach, and plan with colleagues to ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of students with complex needs</li>
<li>design and deliver differentiated instruction to meet varied learning needs</li>
<li>collaborate with support staff to implement adjustments and interventions</li>
<li>create and implement engaging, rigorous, planned learning experiences catering to the diverse needs of students</li>
<li>utilise formative and summative assessments to drive student progress</li>
<li>employ a data-informed approach to setting challenging learning objectives and providing constructive feedback</li>
<li>support the inclusive Catholic religious and cultural environment for students</li>
<li>demonstrate excellent classroom management skills focused on student well-being</li>
<li>integrate technology to enhance contemporary learning experiences.</li>
</ul>
<p>Desirable:</p>
<ul>
<li>postgraduate degree or certificate in Inclusive Education or Neurodivergent studies</li>
<li>previous classroom experience working with students with diverse learning needs</li>
<li>Religious Education qualifications or the willingness to achieve them as per <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://sydcatholicschools.nsw.edu.au/policies/accreditation-policy-to-work-teach-and-lead-in-sydney-catholic-schools">Accreditation Policy to Work, Teach, and Lead</a>.</li>
