<p><strong>Purpose of the position</strong></p>
<p>The Director of Teaching and Learning supports the College’s Vision in adopting a family centered approach toward education whereby students will be adept members of society, while contributing to, and serving their community. They will infuse the College’s Tri-Partnership relationship between Parents, students and School in all aspects of their role. </p>
<p>The Director of Teaching and Learning is a member of the K-12 College Leadership Team with delegated responsibility for the development and supervision of the College academic program.</p>
<p>This is a full-time permanent position commencing in term 1, 2026. (Monday, 19 January) Generous remuneration will be offered above the published 2025/2026 CMEA rates.</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities </strong></p>
<p>The Director of Teaching and Learning (Years 7–12) will provide strategic leadership in shaping a high-quality, values-driven educational experience that reflects the College’s Islamic ethos and commitment to academic excellence. You will lead curriculum design, teaching practice, and assessment processes to ensure students are challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.</p>
<p>In this role, you will:</p>
<ul>
<li>Lead, mentor and support Heads of Department and teaching teams to deliver engaging, innovative and inclusive learning programs.</li>
<li>Oversee curriculum development, mapping and review to ensure compliance with NESA requirements and continuous improvement in student outcomes.</li>
<li>Champion evidence-based teaching practices that promote intellectual challenge, creativity, and differentiation for diverse learners.</li>
<li>Embed Islamic values and character education throughout the curriculum and teaching practice, nurturing students’ spiritual growth and social responsibility.</li>
<li>Manage assessment policies, reporting, and examinations, ensuring integrity, consistency and clear communication with students and families.</li>
<li>Foster strong partnerships with parents and the wider community, promoting shared responsibility for student learning and success.</li>
<li>Drive professional learning and performance development to build staff capability and a culture of reflective practice and continuous improvement.</li>
<li>Ensure academic policies, compliance, and accreditation standards are met, and represent the College in relevant networks and with external authorities.</li>
<li>Promote student wellbeing through positive behaviour support, personalised learning pathways, and the celebration of academic achievement.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Special Requirements Variable Duties/Hours:</strong></p>
<p>The nature of the position is such that the Director of Teaching and Learning is required to be available outside the “normal” office/College hours to fully participate in the total life of the College and to attend meetings and presentations whenever necessary, and to represent the College Head of Senior School, on occasions, in some forums.</p>
<p>The Director of Teaching and Learning may also be required to contribute to whole school strategic planning and play an active role in the coordination and leadership of whole school events. This role carries responsibility for broader whole school leadership as directed, including presence and availability before and after school, as well as supporting duties.</p>
<p><strong>Key Knowledge:</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Knowledge of the key New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA) policy statements and their implications for teaching and learning in independent schools in NSW</li>
<li>A current and future focused perspective of developments in Teaching and Learning</li>
<li>Knowledge of the curriculum requirements of ACARA and the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA)</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>Essential Criteria for the role:</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Experience in the effective implementation of data driven learning policy and procedures and classroom teaching practice which improve students’ performance </li>
<li>Demonstrated commitment and outstanding ability to support and nurture the vision, purpose, values and beliefs of the College and the College community</li>
<li>Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven capacity to promote a family centered approach toward education in individual, small group and community contexts</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to effectively implement the College’s policies, procedures and practices, including the ability to manage and lead around the issues related to academic compliance, and curriculum information processes for students and parents</li>
