<p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Location:</strong> Within Schools, World Square, CBD and WFH<br><strong>Commencement Date:</strong> Immediate start or by negotiation&nbsp;<br><strong>Closing Date:</strong> Sunday, 21 September 2025&nbsp;<br><strong>Capacity:</strong> Full-Time, Temporary (up to 3 years)<br><strong>No. of positions:</strong> 2<br><br><strong>About the Role</strong><br><br> The Education Officer: Literacy Intervention is responsible for leading the strategic development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of K-2 Literacy Intervention programs (Tier 2 and 3) across all primary schools within Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS).<br><br> This role focuses on designing, developing, and assessing targeted interventions in reading, comprehension, and writing, ensuring alignment with Tier 1 instruction. It also involves delivering professional learning and providing ongoing support to school staff to enhance literacy outcomes and embed best practice.<br><br> Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>training teachers in the theory and practice of Literacy Intervention, providing ongoing feedback and professional support to teachers in training</li> <li>facilitating all other training and capacity building elements of Literacy Intervention</li> <li>collating, analysing and interpreting data associated with Literacy Intervention</li> <li>preparing reports for SCS leaders on Literacy Intervention program progress and outcomes</li> <li>collaborating with the Diverse Learning team to ensure alignment of processes and practices in supporting the diverse learning needs of students</li> <li>developing and maintaining positive working relationships with Principals and teachers across SCS to successfully embed the Literacy Intervention program</li> <li>supporting Principals in the referral process of students who have not successfully progressed from Literacy Intervention</li> <li>any other duties as directed from time to time.</li> </ul> <p><strong>About You</strong><br><br> To be successful in this position, you must possess:</p> <ul> <li>a university Degree in Education and current NESA accreditation, operating at the Highly Accomplished or Lead level of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers</li> <li>a minimum of five years of teaching experience in a school with demonstrated success teaching K-3 classes</li> <li>a knowledge and understanding in relation to issues and trends in current practice of teaching literacy</li> <li>experience in using data analysis to inform educational decisions</li> <li>success in improving student outcomes and implementing school-wide initiatives</li> <li>excellent written, oral and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate contemporary educational trends</li> <li>a current driver's licence and access to a car</li> <li>a genuine willingness to respect, support and uphold the mission, ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of Sydney Catholic Schools.</li> </ul> <p>Desirable:</p> <ul> <li>five years of middle leadership experience in a school</li> <li>previous Reading Recovery teaching experience</li> <li>knowledge of the Catholic Systemic Schools/Systems.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Why Work for Sydney Catholic Schools</strong><br><br> In joining <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://sydcatholicschools.nsw.edu.au/">Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS)</a>, you will be part of the largest Catholic education community in NSW, with a unified vision and shared resources, encompassing over 145 schools and over 74,000 students.
