The Head of Mathematics is a leadership position offering an exciting career opportunity for a highly experienced educator and scholar of Mathematics with significant, relevant leadership experience to join Frensham on a full-time basis from Term 1, 2026.

<p><strong>Position Overview</strong></p>
<p>The <strong>Head of Mathematics</strong> is a leadership position offering an exciting career opportunity for a highly experienced educator and scholar of Mathematics with significant, relevant leadership experience to join Frensham on a full-time basis from Term 1, 2026.</p>
<p>Frensham’s Mathematics Faculty works collaboratively to promote Mathematics as a challenging and exciting course of study. Students are encouraged to undertake mathematics at the highest level and individual mentoring is core to the process through which students are supported. The Mathematics Faculty is well resourced and our teachers are engaged in supporting students both in and beyond class. At Frensham, the differentiation of programs, assessments and teaching strategies is highly developed.</p>
<p>The Head of Mathematics will be a passionate, inspirational and energetic classroom teacher with the proven ability to improve student learning outcomes. The Head of Mathematics will also be an experienced leader and manager of colleagues who is emotionally intelligent and who will be able to generate high quality team effort amongst those with whom they work. </p>
<p>All teaching staff are committed to a professional learning program focused on improvement in professional practice as part of a school-wide pursuit of excellence in teaching.</p>
<p><strong>Leadership</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Leading the teachers of the Mathematics Faculty to deliver lessons of the highest quality.</li>
<li>Liaising with the Director of Studies to ensure faculty administration is of the highest standard.</li>
<li>Supporting and managing Mathematics Staff to improve practice and accountability.</li>
<li>Acting as a key member of the Head of Faculties team, ensuring a literacy focus across all areas of the school.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Position Requirements</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Possesses the appropriate teaching and tertiary qualifications relevant to the position. </li>
<li>Experience in teaching junior and HSC Mathematics including Extension.</li>
<li>Dynamic and effective classroom practitioner.</li>
<li>Ability to differentiate instruction and cater for a range of learning abilities and needs.</li>
<li>Thorough understanding of the learning process, including the role of assessment and feedback.</li>
<li>Understanding what ‘best-practice’ and ‘next-practice’ look like for Mathematics teaching.</li>
<li>Experience in managing staff, encouraging, mentoring and supporting them to excellence and building a culture of ongoing improvement and responsiveness.</li>
<li>Ability to share responsibilities associated with leadership from a whole school perspective.</li>
