We are looking for an energetic, creative English Leader to join the team at St Luke's. The leadership position is for a period 3 years (with an ongoing teaching position 0.8FTE). In addition to the base salary, the position attracts a Level 2 Position of Leadership Allowance.

<p>As a key member of the Curriculum Team, reporting directly to the Head of Learning, Teaching and Data, the English Leader is responsible for leading a whole-school approach to the teaching of English at St Luke’s. &nbsp;The approach will be underpinned by both the MACS Vision for Instruction and MACS Vision for Engagement, contextualised for our community.</p> <p><br> The role requires close collaboration with all staff to support the effective implementation of English through professional learning, modelling, feedback and resourcing. Effective leadership in this role will be driven by a commitment to the Catholic ethos, our strategic plan, a focus on data and evidence, a disposition of dialogue and a focus on students. &nbsp;A key priority for this role is being present in classrooms: observing and providing feedback, modelling and/or releasing teachers so that they may observe practices within the school to build confidence, capacity and consistency P-6.</p> <p><br> The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for literacy and a skilled practitioner dedicated to fostering excellence across the school.<br> &nbsp;</p> <p>The successful applicant will demonstrate:</p> <ul> <li>a commitment to Catholic education;</li> <li>a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children;</li> <li>current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching;</li> <li>accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school or be working towards gaining this;</li> <li>evidence of working towards or attainment of academic qualifications additional to initial teacher education (Post graduate study in English an advantage);&nbsp;</li> <li>commitment to dialogue, teamwork and the skills to work collaboratively;</li> <li>a passion for working with children, dedicated to supporting their academic, emotional and spiritual growth;</li> <li>highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to relate positively with others;</li> <li>a commitment to their own personal, spiritual and professional growth.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Selection Criteria:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Commitment to the Catholic Mission:</strong> A strong personal commitment to and understanding of the Catholic mission and values to nurture the academic, spiritual, and personal growth of every child.</li> <li><strong>Leadership:</strong> Proven ability to strategically lead and inspire a whole-school approach to English, including a deep understanding of pedagogical best practices and the capacity to mentor colleagues and drive professional development.</li> <li><strong>Curriculum Expertise:</strong> A comprehensive understanding of the English curriculum, with the ability to lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of effective learning programs that are evidence-based, differentiated and engaging for all students.</li> <li><strong>Data-Informed Practice:&nbsp;</strong>The ability to collect, analyse, and interpret a wide range of student data to inform teaching, track progress, and evaluate the impact of English initiatives on student growth and achievement.</li> <li><strong>Collaborative and Relational Skills:</strong> Exceptional interpersonal skills and the capacity to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.
