The Performing Arts Aide Dance and Drama, provides administrative support to the Head of Drama and Dance in the efficient and safe running of an excellent College Performing Arts program. The Performing Arts Aide Dance and Drama, works as part of the team to contribute to the improvement of experience for students in the performing arts and is directly responsible to the Head of Drama and Dance.

<p><strong>1 Context</strong></p>

<p>Our staff take advantage of flexibility in physical and virtual spaces to support an increasingly personalised approach to learning for our young people. Pacific Lutheran College has a seamless curriculum across Kindergarten to Year 12 with teams of teachers working across the four subgroups of the College. Staff are expected to learn collaboratively to contribute to a whole school approach as they lead learning in the Foundation College (Kindergarten-Year 2), Junior College (Years 3-5), Middle College (Years 6-9) and Senior College (Years 10-12).</p>
<p><strong>2 Role Description</strong></p>

The Performing Arts Aide Dance and Drama, provides administrative support to the Head of Drama and Dance in the efficient and safe running of an excellent College Performing Arts program. The Performing Arts Aide Dance and Drama, works as part of the team to contribute to the improvement of experience for students in the performing arts and is directly responsible to the Head of Drama and Dance.</p>
<p>The Performing Arts Aide Dance and Drama is expected to:</p>
<p><strong>Strengthening Lutheran Identity</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Support the Lutheran ethos of the College. This would include involvement in staff devotions and retreats.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Enhancing Excellence in Teaching and Learning</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Provide administrative services to the Head of Drama and Dance to enhance the quality of learning and performing arts experience for students.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Engage in Ongoing Improvement and Innovation</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Engage in ongoing professional learning to update knowledge and practice, targeted to professional needs and College priorities.</li>
<li>Contribute to professional discussion with colleagues in a range of forums to evaluate practice directed at improving professional knowledge and practice and the educational and sporting outcomes for students.</li>
<li>Engage in reflection, collaborative planning, monitoring and review.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Community Building</strong></p>
<p>The Performing Arts Aide Dance and Drama has an important role in the building of community through the following:</p>
<ul>
<li>Foster effective learning partnerships with students, staff, parents and members of the wider community.</li>
<li>Demonstrate responsiveness in all communications with parents, guardians and staff, providing a welcoming environment for students, staff, parents and community members.</li>
<li>Adhere to the College Code of Conduct and act professionally at all times in dealing with students, staff, parents and members of the community.</li>
<li>Maintain a positive work environment through support of staff, students and parents flexibly adjusting to changing demands of the work environment. This would include the sharing of tasks.</li>
<li>Support communication processes within the Drama and Dance departments.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Leading Effective Organisation and Management</strong></p>
<p>The Performing Arts Aide Dance and Drama assists the staff in the provision of high-quality performing arts experiences through the following specific duties under the direction of the Head of Drama and Dance:</p>
<ul>
<li>Support of the organisation and planning of dance ensemble groups and drama productions including communication to students and parents about rehearsals and performance times. Maintain records of student participation and attendance within ensembles.</li>
<li>Photocopying and record keeping of playscripts and other classroom materials for dance and drama including those related to copyright.</li>
<li>Assist in the planning, organisation and running of major performing arts events including dance and drama showcase events and productions. This would include the production of certificates and purchase of medallions and/or trophies.</li>
<li>Support the Head of Drama and Dance to develop a budget and the purchasing of materials including record keeping.</li>
<li>Supporting quality communication between department teachers, contract staff/coaches and students and parents.</li>
<li>Maintain a stocktake of drama and dance equipment and materials and assist with the allocation, storage, replacement and ordering of resources. </li>
<li>Support the Head of Drama and Dance in the preparation, organisation and running of incursions and excursions including communication to parents, students and staff. This would include relevant bookings and the preparing and collating of permissions to participate and medical forms.</li>
<li>Support the development of monthly updates and promotional material to the Community Liaison and Communications Officer.</li>
<li>Adherence to the College’s policy and in particular, areas associated with Workplace Health and Safety.</li>
<li>Maintain office equipment and classroom supplies as required.</li>
<li>Have an awareness of personal health and wellbeing for themselves and their colleagues.</li>
<li>Maintain high levels of confidentiality.</li>
<li>Complete administrative tasks as directed by the College Principal.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>3 Workplace Health and Safety</strong></p>
<p>Effective implementation of the School’s Workplace Health and Safety Manual requires the active involvement of all employees. All employees have an obligation to comply with statutory and organisational requirements, procedures and rules that are intended to protect the health and safety of persons at the workplace including the general public.</p>
<p>All Academic and Ancillary staff must:</p>
<ul>
<li>Perform work safely in accordance with the training (induction and annual) they have received and report substandard work conditions or practices.</li>
<li>Follow lawful written and verbal workplace health and safety instructions issued by managers and supervisors and observe all warning signs and notices.</li>
<li>Report all personal injuries immediately to the supervisor and appropriate School delegate.</li>
<li>Co-operate with and participate in all activities to make the work environment safer and healthier.</li>
<li>Maintain good housekeeping standards at all times.</li>
<li>Observe all warning signs and notices.</li>
<li>Ask for specific instruction regarding the hazards associated with performing tasks which may not be completely familiar.</li>
<li>Wear clothing and footwear appropriate to their job and use all personal protective devices specified and/or routinely expected for that job.</li>
<li>Operate specified plant and equipment, e.g. motor vehicles, cranes, etc, only if properly trained and authorised to do so.</li>
<li>Not wilfully or recklessly interfere with anything that might harm the health and safety of themselves and others.</li>
<li>attend work under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs. Employees taking any medication must follow the directions of use and report to their Supervisor if this substance may interfere with their performance at work.</li>
<li>Assist with Risk Assessments and Accident Investigation Reports when requested to do so.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>4 Essential Experience and Skills</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Interest and/or experience in dance and drama.</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal skills. Be courteous and responsive in dealing with colleagues, students, parents and members of the public using discretion, tact and maintaining appropriate confidentiality.</li>
<li>Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines and work effectively as a member of a team with limited supervision at times.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>5 Selection Criteria</strong></p>
<p>As a key support role that will require ongoing learning and growth, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate or have the demonstrated capacity to develop the capabilities described below. The successful applicant will possess:</p>
<p><strong>SC 1.</strong> Demonstrated ability to support the Christian ethos of the College.</p>
<p><strong>SC 2.</strong> Demonstrated professional skills in the support of teachers and students in the learning of Dance and Drama. The position requires both administrative skills and the physical capacity to set up, maintain and develop materials involved in dance and drama classes and co-curricular activities. The ability to use Microsoft Power Point, Word and Excel is an advantage. Similar experience within a school environment would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to show initiative, work with minimal direction and contribute to continual improvement.</p>
<p><strong>SC 3.</strong> An understanding and commitment to workplace health and safety within the day to day operations and activities of the College with a focus on dance and drama related activities.</p>
<p><strong>SC 4.</strong> Demonstrated high levels of interpersonal capabilities in areas such as teamwork, organisation, time management and communication. Applicants should demonstrate highly developed written and verbal skills, confidentiality, confidence and be able to work professionally in a busy environment. A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development will be required.</p>

<p><strong>6 Qualifications, Review and Conditions</strong></p>
<p>Salary and related conditions are in accordance with the current School Officers’ Award - Non-Governmental Schools and the Lutheran Church of Australia, Queensland District Certified Agreement. School officers will need to develop a professional learning plan and each year and complete a review process on an annual basis.</p>
<p>The successful applicant must have experience in using Microsoft Office software and data management systems.</p>
