MLC School is looking for a passionate and driven Head of Department – English to join the team in January 2026.

<p>MLC School is seeking a <strong>passionate and driven Head of Department – English</strong> to lead a dynamic team of educators in inspiring young women to be fearless thinkers with moral courage and compassion—empowered to be agents of change in their own lives and the lives of others.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>About the Position</strong></p> <p>As a pedagogical leader, the Head of Department – English will:</p> <ul> <li>Lead and coordinate the development and delivery of innovative teaching programs aligned with the strategic goals of the School.</li> <li>Mentor staff and track individual student progress to foster academic excellence.</li> <li>Build a culture where wellbeing, academic progress, and spiritual development go hand in hand.</li> <li>Promote the importance of educating the ‘whole girl’ and actively partner with parents.</li> </ul> <p>This role requires a <strong>Master’s degree</strong> in a relevant discipline and <strong>demonstrated experience in IB and HSC marking</strong>, ensuring <strong>expert leadership in curriculum design and assessment.</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Selection Criteria</strong></p> <p>The successful candidate will demonstrate:</p> <ul> <li>Leadership in developing and implementing teaching programs that meet NESA, IB, and School reporting requirements.</li> <li>Expertise in English content and pedagogy, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.</li> <li>Collaborative engagement with teaching teams and learning specialists to support diverse learning needs.</li> <li>Excellence in planning and evaluating educational programs that support holistic student growth.</li> <li>A proactive and professional approach to parent and carer engagement.</li> <li>A commitment to co-curricular involvement and continuous personal and professional growth.</li> <li>Experience or interest in teaching the IB Diploma Programme.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Why Join MLC School?</strong></p> <p>At MLC School, we dare to be more—for our students and our staff.
