Tamar Valley Steiner School is seeking applications for a part-time (0.6FTE) Early Childhood teaching position from Term 4 2025 to Term 1 2026. In addition to this confirmed role, there is a possible (yet to be confirmed) full-time role for the full 2026 school year. Please get in touch if you require further information on possible role options before applying.

The school is in a phase of growing our youngest cohort of children. Since the establishment of our purpose-built early childhood building and single-stream of Kinder in 2024, our Kindergarten classes have had approximately 22 students. It is important to understand that the classroom is shared with a long pre-school and after school care program using an external provider, Adventure Patch, whose educational philosophy aligns closely with our own. The dual program format is now well established with the same Adventure Patch team leader working in the space since the opening in 2024.

The teacher in the Kindergarten teacher position leads an innovative but pioneering program that combines two years of pre-school education into the one classroom including:

1. school enrolled kindergarten children and

2. a pre-school program during school hours.

Staffing of this joint program is the Tamar Valley Steiner Early Childhood teacher plus a Diploma qualified Adventure Patch staff member. The split between children will be roughly 11:9 (TVSS:AP) in each program each day with the room having capacity for 20 children. The two staff work together to provide a program differentiated by age as appropriate and supervision for all 20 children in the same classroom space. The school kindergarten class runs in two streams of Monday to Wednesday and Wednesday to Friday. On Wednesdays, the two streams combine for a Bush School program offsite at the Trevallyn reserve. Students in each stream attend 2.5 days (or 15 hrs/wk). In addition to the daily joint delivery of the joint program with Adventure Patch, the ECE teacher will be responsible for the education and associated responsibilities of all children enrolled in kindergarten at the school. The after school program runs from 3 to 5pm daily, and on Wednesdays, after kinder care is available from 12.30pm.
